Oh, so this is only about whether or not it constitutes child abuse?

Just curious, are we talking about child abuse in a very legal, narrow way, or in the broader, more abstract way...

Which relates closely to what I've exactly been saying all along in this thread: it's a reprehensible film that in a very general way damages everyone who comes into contact with it, and will have particularly damaged those who produced or acted in it.
So, I presume you’re going to back this statement up with facts and figures about the mental health issues the actors have been struggling with since making the movie.

Or is it just your opinion (which is completely unfounded, besides your own discomfort at warching children dance) you’re trying to sell as fact?

Is this the case though?
Apparently yes, and I'm using the medical definition of pedophile.

You should really stop bringing people's family into this debate. It is tasteless.

“ It does not make it right that there are scenes which truly shock the good senses of regular people, and satisfy the base desires of people of depraved inclinations. ”
Where did get the idea that your views represent “regular people” ? whoever they are.
This would imply that people who’s views differ from yours are in some way irregular.

"Don't brign family into this" is generally invoked when one is bringing up real-life criticisms of someone else's family.

I am talking about a hypothetical, but since already he has taken the liberty of posting videos of his granddaughter dancing in this very thread, I figured it was just a convenient pivot to a real circumstance for him.

But sure, maybe it is inappropriate for sensitive people with weak stomachs.

So, perhaps it is best to say:

HYPOTHETICALLY, would you encourage a purely non-existent granddaughter or actual daughter (definitely not your REAL daughter or granddaughter, let's keep family out of this), to partake in something like this?

So Kev, you do not find it shocking to your good senses to watch scantily clad preteen girls dance in a provocative manner..?

Or is that too hard of a question for you?

I haven’t watched it Phil but as I’ve said there is so much evidence concerning the sexualisation of children by mass media and corporations for marketing purposes that the condemnation of a film exploring that theme seems ridiculous to me.
Some films are meant to be disturbing that’s their purpose.
I feel as if I’ve seen the film through the disparate views on these forums and google.

I've already told you several times I object to your personalization of the matter. If you continue to do so, I will no longer respond to your posts and will alert those that keep mentioning my family members as "Harassment". I put videos of a dance team I was familiar with to show what is acceptable in such contests, not to open my family to be a pawn in your ideological crusade.

You are making an assumption that I would do something I have not agreed with. Bluntly, I do not think the scenes within the context of the movie morally damages anybody.

I notice you have ignored my post with videos of 8 and 9 year old girls dancing in more provocative outfits more than a decade ago.

I also note your moral hypocrisy; you've already said you wouldn't cancel Netflix because of this, but seem to be working yourself in more and more of a lather as the thread progresses, with exaggerated outrage growing each page. If you really think what is being shown is "child sexual abuse" (absurdly of course), why are you willing to keep paying money to those showing it?

Oh sure, I only meant to bring up hypothetical scenario.

I've said how I feel about it concerning my family.

I won't mention yours.

But... If you like... Feel free to engage in hypothetical questions.

If it is too hard or difficult to imagine or you don't want to speak about morality in a debate forum, I understand
