Let's define Disinformation

I think we might banter about this,, as it gets more attention. To start with, a Ms Jankowski has been named our minister of truth or some such (smacks of Orwell 1984!!). She is the person who stated quite clearly that the laptop was a hoax, which is disiinformation. She said that the Trump dossier was true, which is disinformation. The Queen of disinformation is the truth minister? Did they vet her? Why, they may as well make Tucker the minister!!! Suzy says he lies, too!
Anyway, what is the forum definition of disinformation?

Let's start with what disinformation *isn't*. It's not something you merely disagree with. Conservatives claim accusations of them spreading misinformation are simply differences in opinion. That's false.

What is misinformation then? Statements that mislead the public and get passed around as fact. For example, when tobacco companies pushed the idea of "safe" cigarettes.

Disinformation is when one creates and knowingly spread false statements as facts. The tobacco example can also fall into this category.

Maybe you don't WANT to hear about disinformation since that would cast aspersions on your god king Trump.
Remember 'Covid will be gone by memorial day' or 'ingest bleach or some such and that will kill the covid virus in minutes' or ' we (meaning feds) are not the clerks to the states' meaning don't count on US to provide PP equipment'
or 'I don't know about Stormy, check with my accountant'

Your freedom of expression means that you can freely agree with the doctrine that 2 + 2 = 5, if the WH says so.

They should just all the way and call it the Ministry of Truth.

Orwell meant it as a warning.

I accept your definition of disinformation (and always understood it that way). That being said, everything presented in the OP is and was disinformation. Our chief Minister of Truth has a known track record of disinformation.
