Let's start with what disinformation *isn't*. It's not something you merely disagree with. Conservatives claim accusations of them spreading misinformation are simply differences in opinion. That's false.

What is misinformation then? Statements that mislead the public and get passed around as fact. For example, when tobacco companies pushed the idea of "safe" cigarette ...[text shortened]... d knowingly spread false statements as facts. The tobacco example can also fall into this category.
I could agree with you, unless:

"Conservatives claim accusations of them spreading misinformation are simply differences in opinion. That's false."

To my knowledge, there are cases when the US conservatives do not say that it is a matter of mere differences of opinion. They say that it is proven, that Biden is not an elected president.

You have to understand that it is not merely a question of what is true and what is false. It is a question about knowledge. And there are disputes about what is known and what is not.

Those who argue that some doctrine is true and proven might be wrong. If they use censorship, they happen to stop obtaining knowledge.

In the era of Galilei, the church also claimed that it is known that the Earth is not moving, etc. So they banned Galilei's theory. But it was closer to the truth than Ptolemaic theory.

Banning and censoring the "refuted" views leads to dogmaticism and stagnation.

Spoken like a true Stalinist. Lucky you, you love Big Brother Vladimir.
Vladimir Putin is not mine and he is not infallible. You simply do not want to participate in the discussion, my Big Brother.

Yeah it must be weird for you viewing the heavy handed censorship and state propaganda of the west.
Right. I have a feeling that the West tries to put me back into the Soviet system.

"60 countries sign declaration that commits to bolstering 'resilience to disinformation and misinformation'."
Pro-censorship governments unite.

If you follow the links provided in that article, you shall see that the officials associate the misinformation with criticisms of Pfizer's vaccine, with the information coming from Russian sources, etc.

They think that they are supreme beings living in supreme countries and the misinformation comes only from outside.

But the greatest source of misinformation is Western politicians and mainstream media.

If you check Google Translate, the examples of "disinformation" and "misinformation" lead to Russia.

They think that the West never produces disinformation, but this is itself the greatest disinformation of our era.

Conservatives are notorious for pushing claims that either have no evidence or have been disproven. For example, Trump continues to assert the election was "stolen" despite 60 U.S. courts dismissing his claims, including the mostly conservative Supreme court. Even his own government officials refuted his claims.

Galileo had evidence for his observations that were arrived at after much research. Conservatives are like the Church in your example who deny science in favor of their beliefs. It's the conservatives who deny evolution and push religious creationism in schools.

I accept your definition of disinformation (and always understood it that way). That being said, everything presented in the OP is and was disinformation. Our chief Minister of Truth has a known track record of disinformation.
"Known track record" in this case is disinformation.

One can see this is true by witnessing Metal Brain's disinformation flotilla right here in this forum.

I think we might banter about this,, as it gets more attention. To start with, a Ms Jankowski has been named our minister of truth or some such (smacks of Orwell 1984!!). She is the person who stated quite clearly that the laptop was a hoax, which is disiinformation. She said that the Trump dossier was true, which is disinformation. The Queen of disinformation is the ...[text shortened]... he minister!!! Suzy says he lies, too!
Anyway, what is the forum definition of disinformation?
Does this person have a first name?

Y’all can keep up with this big national issue if you will just make yourself watch Fox News. Just the entertaining show from 5 to 6 will include it. Every day, I imagine

Vivify, it is one thing for a singular conservative, Donald Trump, to assert that falsehood about 2020 election
even though fellow Repubs refute him, but it is an altogether different brand of lie when virtually the entire
Democratic Party and their appostles pontificate that the 2016 election was hacked by Russians and Trump.

And you'll never admit it.

You did not grasp at all what did I say. I did not say that conservatives were right or wrong about this or that fact. What I did say was that the conservatives sometimes did not say that it was a matter of taste but a matter of facts.

The conservatives on this site have claimed many times that social media sites ban right-wing content they "disagree" with, when the criteria was actually based on factual inaccuracies.

For example, Twitter has banned users who spread false or misleading anti-vaccination information about Covid. In each case the reasons for bans were purely fact based like (as evidenced by their known post history) but conservatives often claimed the bans were due to merely "disagreeing" or not liking conservative opinions.

Conservatives turned the idea of misinformation into "different opinions". This has happened MANY times on this forum and in conservative media, obviously for propaganda reasons.

Hence, why I had to make clear that "misinformation" is not merely a view one disagrees with.

Virtually everyone who enters the town square to debate contemporary events will eventually write something that is "false" according to officially approved fact checkers. It seems that only the common conservative opinions get you banned.

For example, if I were to assert that Rachel Levin is a woman, I have no chance of getting banned anywhere. But if I were to assert that Rachel is in fact a guy taking woman hormones, I could be banned (maybe even from RHP).

Somehow, the left can assert that the courts are unfair because minorities get more jail time than white people for the same crimes. But other than very rare examples, everyone who goes to jail actually committed the crime they were convicted for. So is bias a thing you can understand, or not?
