@AverageJoe1 saidYou've asked the same stupid question in some form or the other probably about a thousand times on this Forum.
Appears you want to compare Stock brokers that sit in their white shirts at computers with men who are outside building a fence with their hands.
Is that what you are doing? I guess that too deserves a special thread that would be interesting.
Not to get ahead of you, but are you saying that people that toil physically should make more money than people that just ...[text shortened]... rk for the guy that makes the boats. And the guy who cleans the fish. How much do each of them get.?
It's been answered a thousand times on this Forum.

@AverageJoe1 saidWho cares how about how many varieties of cheese there are at the supermarket? You really think that is more important than ending poverty, hunger and homelessness?
What do you call people not agreeing with your communist manifestos here on the forum?
Why don’t they agree? Why don’t they get it.?That you know what you’re talking about that we need to all sit back and watch Mamdani and you bring it all around
Why don’t you do a thread and explain to us your basic principle that will make a better world in America? Will we ...[text shortened]... would take over Walmart and Costco ? These questions need to be answered before the next election..
Answer that question.
Fix the important failings of the system and then I don't care about anything you pretend to think is important like cocktail parties for the rich.
@AverageJoe1 saidRenumeration in this system almost exclusively relies on how much you serve the interests of the top 1% wealth holders and nothing to do with who "works harder".

A third grade teacher in a inner city school or a nurse at a hospice works harder than any stockbroker but the latter on average make 10 to 20 times as much if they work at the big firms.
An economic system that rewarded work would be a nice change rather than the one we have which rewards non-work, passive paper chasing and economic rent seeking.
@AverageJoe1 saidYOU brought it up! And now we can't talk about it?
I write about differences in culture. If you want to write about that issue, start a thread on it.
You said you'd have a "right" to kill your neighbor if you thought he held certain beliefs that you think are typical of Muslims (they aren't but you think they are).
That's what the San Diego kids did.
Difference?

Brick layer, teacher, stock broker.
The average annual salary in the United States is about $64,000. So given that as a basis, how much money should each of the three people make annually?
I use the word’should’ which implies that a higher authority dictates the amount, not my intent.
So better to say how much money should each of these people expect to make in a normal society, being the capitalist USA?
@AverageJoe1 saidYou probably never saw the movie Margin Call which is a fictional representation of the 2008 Wall St. collapse but in it the Zachary Quinto character, who finds the fatal flaw in the company's portfolio, is being grilled by some senior executives at a late night meeting. They ask "What's you background?" and it turns out he's a literal rocket scientist.

They seem puzzled and ask why he's working there on Wall Street.
He says they pay a lot more here.
That's the type of misallocation of human resources that our present system, geared primarily and almost exclusively to making the rich richer, leads to.

I don't have any specific numbers for you, but I think an economic system should reward those who do socially productive work over those who do not.
@no1marauder saidYes, a human has a right to kill a human that kills his daughter. I was only going on record that I would do it. Faeries would not, why is that so hard to understand? Would you shoot him?

You also think that we should keep out all Muslims apparently because a very few believe that. That's what we call "racist stereotyping".

Of course I care about poverty, hunger, and homelessness. The real question is how we best reduce them. I believe history shows that countries with free markets and strong property rights have done MORE to lift people out of poverty than centrally planned economies ever did. Capitalism isn’t perfect, but it has created unprecedented wealth, longer lives, better medicine, and lower costs for countless goods over time. Don’t play dumb. you know this. I erode your post.
I don’t see this as a choice between “more cheese” and “ending poverty.” I see it as a choice between an economic system that creates wealth to address those problems and one that has too often produced shortages, stagnation, and less freedom.
Now you are getting me started. For the record, you are saying that we need to start reducing all facets of our society, like cheese production, investment s medical advancements, more efficient, cars, cheaper, electricity, scientific advancements, have just one type of milk, just stop all of that productivity and prosperity and give the money to the 300 million people of this country. I think that’s what you’re saying.
It can only be one or the other. Reduce bountiful production or allow our country to chug on and lift all boats.
You are a socialist

@AverageJoe1 saidThe fact is laissez faire capitalism was an abject failure and it was only after reforms people like to describe as "socialist" were implemented, did the lives of the average man substantially improve.

Then since the 1980s, government policy has been to reward non-work and economic rent seeking at the expense of socially productive work. That has led to a vast increase in income and wealth inequality while the working and middle class have economically stagnated:
"Between 1979 and 2022, the average income of the richest 0.01 percent of households, a group that today represents just over 13,000 households, grew over 12 times as fast as the income of the bottom 20 percent of earners."
"Income disparities are now so pronounced that America’s richest 1 percent of households averaged 103 times as much income as the bottom 20 percent in 2022, according to the Congressional Budget Office."

The "2008 Recession" would be another interesting study where the government bailed out the rich for their poor investments.

@no1marauder saidYeah, no sense arguing whether the USA is a normal society. Let’s pick another country and you tell us how normal it is. I’ll be wanting to know how their space program is moving on , and what their latest inventions are …we invent about 330,000 inventions annually in our country.
That assumes the "capitalist USA" is a "normal" society.
I don't have any specific numbers for you, but I think an economic system should reward those who do socially productive work over those who do not.
Who will be the person or the entity that tells people how many inventions we can have, and how many different types of cheeses cheese makers can make? You are aware that that would have to be an edict issued to all of our citizens as to what they can do. Seems to have a touch of communism doesn’t it.
Oh and how many millionaires. We have exactly 21,951,319 millionaires in our country, not including the Spacex employees that just became millionaires two weeks ago.. I think Netherlands has about 922,000. No wonder you socialists kind of hang around in the United States, waiting for Mandami breadcrumbs. After all, this is where the money is.!,
