Right. But borrowing leads to inflation. When the interest can barely be paid they will have to create the money out of nothing to pay it. Inflation is a tax.
Yes. They bought $15 million worth of steak in a month with tax dollars and now they ask for more money. These are the same dudes who get bent out of shape that welfare recipients occasionally buy soda.

Hegseth is asking Congress for an additional 200 BILLION for the 'excursion' in Iran.

That would have paid for a whole lot of health care for Americans at home, instead of killing people.

That's 4 times more than the NIH budget, and that's in addition to what we already gave the Pentagon. I don't think there's anyone who can provide a reasonable breakdown of how they came up with that number and what that money will be spent on.

Throughout this thread, the counter-argument of "well, it's the government of course they waste money" falls flat with military spending. Because, we don't actually get a cost breakdown like other agencies provide. You can go to a website and see every single grant that is funded by HHS.

I'll bet if a reporter asked Pete Hegseth what he will spend this money on he'll say something like "well I would never tell you about it. What if the enemy finds out?"

Yeah, right--like including The Atlantic on a group chat just before a military strike ....

Oh man, I forgot about that.

I'm sure he'll lock up the trade secrets if $200 billion is at stake. They need it to pay the taxes on Jared Kushner's properties. If they pay any taxes at all.

Did you know that Jared Kushner, Jeff Bezos and Tom Brady all live on an island together off the coast of Miami?

How far off the coast? In international waters?

Nah, there's a bridge guarded by private security. You'll need at least $40 million to buy a house out there.

Dam the rich. I think zuckergerg and Gates should take their work products and just dammit leave. We'd never hear from them about a thing, so we could stop dwelling on their money. Who cares. They'll have their lives, and we will havr ours. They got nuthin' to do with us.

Hey, check this out.

Based on 2026 polling data and demographic analysis, the average Democratic voter is likely to be a moderate-to-liberal woman, often over the age of 55, who does NOT have a college degree.

Sure, they live different from us and have different concerns.

Should politicians caress the egos of the elite for donations, or should they address economic issues that matter to the middle class?

Of course, the principal obligations of a politician, how to represent their constituents, and their economic and domestic concerns.

? We agree!
