There must be a lot of non-Muslims voting for Muslim politicians if they are winning so many elections when the religions adherents are only 6.5% of England and Wales' population.
You did not read the information regarding cities. Overall there are 6.5% Muslims. In the cities it is between 30 to 40%. Dont pretend you did not know that. Foreigners, immigrants etc congregate around the towns.

Regardless, I think the intent of the opening post is to highlight an immigration problem in the UK [and much of Europe], from Islamic and African countries. Although there are model immigrants who work and contribute, many of these immigrants either do not assimilate, they live without contributing by living off welfare, or they are prone to engage in criminal activity. Co ...[text shortened]... seekers, even as views on immigrants' contributions differ depending on the aspect considered. [/i]
To summarize, the story is false but it fits my narrative.

It happens in the USA too. We think something like immigrants are bad and then we search for an example and we come up with "the immigrants in Ohio are eating the dogs and cats" even though it turns out the whole story was made up you then have the folks who say "yeah but the underlying problem still exists" .

If the immigration problem should be highlighted, why are we highlighting fake things instead? It's almost like the problem itself is made up for political opportunism.

Lol RajMuppet gets his information from "drunken Brits" who have apparently left the safety of UK to go to a country under the state of emergency? The "drunken Brits" could be from anywhere in the world. English is an official language is dozens of countries in the world, Commonwealth etc.

Here’s the latest and most reliable overview regarding safety in Trinidad and Tobago for UK tourists:

Official UK Government Assessment (FCDO)

State of Emergency: As of 18 July 2025, Trinidad and Tobago is under a State of Emergency. It grants police enhanced powers such as search, arrest, and detention, though no curfew is in place

GOV.UK

Crime Risks: The FCDO warns of a high level of violent crime, including gang-related shootings, robberies, kidnappings, and assaults. Areas to avoid include parts of Port of Spain like downtown (east of Charlotte Street, south/west of Piccadilly Street, north of Independence Square), plus neighborhoods such as Laventille, Sea Lots, Belmont, Morvant, Beetham, Barataria, and Cocorite
GOV.UK

Specific Precautions:

Stay alert in crowded or unfamiliar areas.

Avoid walking alone, especially at night or in poorly lit zones.

Secure valuables—do not wear expensive jewelry or flash mobile devices.

Use trusted transportation; avoid accepting unverified rides or walking in isolated stretches
GOV.UK

Carnival and large events: crime such as robberies or drink-spiking can occur—remain vigilant and plan your return trip ahead
GOV.UK

LGBT+ travellers: although laws criminalising same-sex activity were reinstated in March 2025, enforcement has been rare. Public displays of affection may, however, attract negative attention
GOV.UK

Comparison: U.S. State Department Advisory

The U.S. has issued a Level 3 advisory (“Reconsider Travel&rdquo😉 for Trinidad and Tobago. Citing continued violent crime, kidnapping, and gang activity, it warns U.S. citizens to avoid specific regions like downtown Port of Spain, Laventille, and beaches in Tobago (e.g., Mt. Irvine and Buccoo Bay)

Trinidad and Tobago declared multiple States of Emergency in response to organized crime threats, most recently in July–August 2025

Here's a thought:

Drunken tourists well off enough to be able to go on Caribbean vacations might not be the most reliable source as far as what the average person on the streets of the UK think.
Maybe, but I doubt that they are clueless about what is going on in the UK regarding immgration. What they say fits in with the survey I quoted where up to 75% of Brits believe immigration is a problem and should be severely curtailed and illegals be deported.

Could it be that a substantial portion of those people think immigration is a problem because they see fake news stories like this one and think they are real?

Apparently you like Trinidad and Tobago, which is offtopic. At least the other posters are discussing and debating. You are stuck on Trinidad [and me personally] because you have nothing of value to add to the topic.

Not likely. These are British citizens, living in the UK and are disappointed with the labour govt, and its policies regarding immigration.

30 to 40% can't win elections consistently either without significant support from the rest.

I know it's disappointing to you, Cliff, Mott and the rest but it seems a large part of the UK population doesn't share your bigoted views.

There is a secular European country with no official religion and whose legal system is structured to protect its people's political rights, regardless of their ethnic, linguistic, racial, or religious affiliations—which is to say the country is far more tolerant of diversity than the MAGA "movement." It's well on its way to becoming a member of the European Union.

Also, almost half the country's population is Muslim.

That country is Albania.

What does this prove? It proves that Islam is not intrinsically antidemocratic or radical. Therefore, what radicalizes Muslims are other factors having much more to do with social, political, and economic factors than religion. Alienation, marginalization, and ostracism appear to be primary motivations for radicalization.

I don't give a crap whether the man in the YouTube video in the OP is the mayor of Brighton or not. What I notice, however, is that what he was talking about were innocuous sentiments regarding materialism that one might hear in an Anglican church. He is earnest, nonthreatening, and engaging constructively in a civil society. And he is being spat on. That is contemptible in the extreme, and I should be embarrassed if I ever did such a thing, especially on account of something so inane as speaking with an accent, or speaking haltingly now and then. He's learned the language, and he speaks of how people may address a gnawing emptiness in their lives by looking beyond mindless consumerism, and he's being spat on.

Disgusting and shameful.

The bad news for the likes of RajMuppet is that for each one of him there are dozens who wouldn't hesitate to attack his friends (assuming its not just drunken talk). They are the so called white jihadists or neo-nazis, they are adherents of Adolf Hitler and all that he stood for.

There’s a new breed of young, violent, far-right activist in Britain: ‘white jihadists’. The neo-Nazi founder of the banned terror group National Action was jailed this week. Sadly, there are more like him.

Alex Davies, the co-founder of the proscribed far-right terror group National Action, was sentenced to more than eight years in prison this week, bringing the total number of people convicted of membership of the group to 19. Formed in 2013, National Action espouses extreme antisemitic and anti-immigrant views, and presented itself as better organised and more disciplined than other groups in a British neo-Nazi scene previously on the verge of collapse.

When it was banned by the then-home secretary, Amber Rudd, in December 2016, National Action was the first far-right organisation to be proscribed since the second world war. But it wasn’t the first such group in that period to espouse extreme neo-Nazi beliefs or promote the ideology of terror and violence – nor will it be the last.

You see no harm in spreading fake news?!

Here, have a ball.
Doing it here is no big deal. This site sucks and influences no one.
When CNN/MSN/etc do it, it's harmful.
When dem leaders from Biden on down do it, it's harmful.
Where are you when they do it ?

We have gone way past the opening post which everyone agrees, even the poster himself, was fake news. I pursued the general topic which is of interest to British citizens, and all over Europe as well, that uncontrolled immigration is not good for their respective countries and they have called on the authorities to stop it, control it, or slow it down. The reasons are in the posts I made from valid websites. There is a poll that shows over 70% of the British polled show they disagree with this immigration. Other posts I made show that the bulk of the crime comes from immigrants from various countries in North Africa and the Mid East etc.

Dont know what Albania has to do with all of this.
