It's not "for free". It's being built with bribe money and you can bet those billionaires and big corporations expect to get their money's worth from those contributions out of taxpayer funds.

Or do you think rich guys and big corporations give money away to politicians out of the goodness of their hearts?
Say it is bribe money. The building of the ballrooom is FREE TO AMERICAN TAXPAYERS.
It is free., You are not that shallow minded , are you. If someone builds something, now follow me here, on my property, the resulting edifice is given to me ....free. I don't pay for it. I get it for free. You and I know you are wrong and full of it, but I write not this to you, but to Suzianne and Sonhouse , so that you do not continue to lead them down fake paths.

Sounds. Like sonhuose๐Ÿ˜‚
See above where Maruader says 'you can bet....." Imagine being on a debate stage, 3 judges staring at you, and you say..........well, you can bet...
Jesus, Mott, what are we dealing with here. Unglued??? Who was that ? Marauder? Suzianne? What a menagerie.

How about this poll:

The temporary occupant of the White House really needs to have a ballroom almost twice the size of the entire present WH.

Yes or no?
A new thread on architecture of the building? Best use of space for the world's most powerful country, next to the Netherlands? Is it big enough would be my question. And tell us how you would arrive at square footage in relation to how often it is used. ๐Ÿ˜† What a board meeting, with you and AOC who wants to name it after Bernie and put a bunch of illegals in there 100 feet from the WH. Oh, you say no to illegals???? But you never say no to illegals. How will you decide who qualifies for AOC's tenement housing?

Yah, the money for these renovations were approved by Congress while Bush was in office. Mostly they were needed to improve security systems and HVAC work. It is (or.. was) a pretty old building.

Private and secret donations for funds to build Trump's house where the white house used to be seems like a bad idea. Do you even care who paid for it?
Any laws being broken? Then, have at it. I will say, it should not have the name of a person on it. Settle, Donald, you have made one hell of a great name for yourself, saving our country. It would be cool if youj would remove your name off of some stuff. You don't need to impress anyone.

@wildgrass said
Lol the political donations are secret, boss. Otherwise we'd know exactly which foreign government is footing the bill for Trump's house renovation.

Don't you want to know who is building this for him?
I would only want to know if Trump is doing anything nefarious. I would impeach him if he is.
Other than that, my granny has a lot of money, would it be OK with you libbys if she pays for it. Seriously. What if people who pay for it are NOT the hated billionaires (job creators)??
What if people who pay for it are not billionaires? Oh, i just said that. But, I won't get an answer. How do I always know that wimp libs will not answer?

@no1marauder said
These aren't exactly secret though the amount of each contribution hasn't been disclosed.https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/list-donors-trump-new-white-house-ballroom-east-wing-rcna239481
Oh so a bunch of military contractors paid for it, companies who rely on trump allocating money for their no bid contracts. That's shady as ssss.

Marauder posted the list. Lockheed paid for it, a company that cannot survive without federal dollars.

A bribe, undoubtedly.

@Cliff-Mashburn said
All at taxpayer expense.
Trump is paying for his out of his own pocket.
Plus he donates his pay to charity.
So there's that.
Kevduit makes better dance videos than you. So there's that.

No, his balls are so teeny tiny, they surely don't need that much room.

With all due respects, it is human nature for a president to realize that if he leans towards favoritism with a certain associate, that the associate will make it easier for the president to accomplish some goal to Make Our Country better. If it is legal, I would say go for it. So if a president needs some machinery and has 2 companies to pick from he will prob pick the company that pays for a ballroom. Is that Illegal? No. Frowned upon? Of course, by many people.
I guess we can say that the people running Biden's government could be doing that very thing by paying tuitions, to get all the losers to vote democrat. I am quite serious. And, hey, AvJoe frowned upon that. You, wildgrass and Marauder, were all for that.
So, there you have it. Sincerely, AvJoe.

Nothng the President does is illegal, remember?

Conflicts of interest are important, regardless of legality. You should be able to state unequivocally that private military contractors should not finance construction of the presidents house.

Other government workers are not allowed to accept a free cup of coffee from Lockheed, due to conflicts of interest

This used to be a common shared opinion.

US government funds are not the private piggy bank of the present temporary occupant of the White House. Contracts should not be awarded based on favors bestowed on him by those applying for them; the word for that is "graft".

Oh, so in effect, a president cannot deal with any contractors, for fear of what your are suggesting? How will you make distinctions, pray tell? I might retort that if he wants his 'friend' contractor to do a job, that he secretly simply tells a confidant to make the deal for him. Life ain't perfect.
So tell us how a president can get any work done if you and your lot hamstring him. This should be good. No 'private military contractors' will be one of your pre-requisites. What about other types of contractors? Do they have to be DEI?
๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

I can't imagine you being VP to Bernie in the oval office making such shalllow-minded decisions. Hey, ,did you see where Shav says no one is worth $1B??
What an uninformed lot.

I've said my piece. Why don't y'all just put him in a beach chair with a book, and open the borders again.

Hardly any of what you just wrote has the slightest thing to do with what we were discussing.

Are you saying that it's ok to award military contracts in exchange for buying the president a new house?

Stop beating around the bush. Be straight, mate.
