and Scottish.
This because they have transgressed.
But if they had won gold medals in the Olympics
or achieved good status in another way, then they
would be described as British.
I am sick and tired of the British propaganda machine where
they claim people as British if they do well and if they do badly
then they are described as Welsh or Irish or Scottish.
Britain cannot have it both ways.
They now claim Andy Murray as British because to them he is a hero.
The first British man to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry.
But when he was losing they described him always as Scottish.
Britain tried to claim U2 as a British band. They are not. They are Irish.
They tried to claim Ronnie Delaney as British when he is in fact Irish.

The players declared themselves as Irish.
They could have sought more glory by
declaring for England but they didn't.
They came and declared and played for Ireland
because of family connections.
You didn't seem to mind when Sven Goran Ericsson was England's manager.
He is from Sweden after all.
I remember watching Chelsea play football when
Dennis Wise was the only Englishman in that team.
In our domestic league we have Irish players.

Why could you possibly care about how many foreign players there are in a football league?
I am on about the British trying to claim successful Irish people as British.
They do it all the time. Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, U2,
to name just a few.

up the Scots, Irish and Welsh? To what end?

And what about the Cornish and Manx? I suppose they are oppressed too?
