Look Wheely...Like I said we're talking about breastfeeding and I would feed a hungry baby if it offended you...I can't believe you would expect me not to

You're right. People should respect a woman's right to engage in the dignified act of providing sustenance for her child wherever and whenever the child needs to eat.
How is it a matter of respect? Except for that? Respect for whom?
Sas: "How is it a matter of respect? Except for that? Respect for whom?[/b]
In the first place it is a matter of respect from the woman for her own body.

then you should RESPECT a womans choice to breastfeed her child in public. It's nothing to be ashamed of and women should not be afraid of doing so. If you don't like it, DON'T LOOK.

Is there a way to be offensive when a woman breastfeeds? Perhaps, I dunno...I can't think of any way.
Lots of things you think are normal, other people find abnormal and some things you find offensive other people find attractive.
Now, as I've said, I find it mildly offensive yet understand I shouldn't and certainly wouldn't expect a women not to breast feed her baby because I find it mildly offensive.
However, some people, perhaps rather old fashioned, might find it very offensive. There was a time when breast feeding was frowned upon and I imagine people bought up in that time may well find it offensive. Other people might find displaying breasts in public unnatural, possibly offensive and, given there is a bottled substitute, might therefore find it unnecessary.
There are many ways it could be considered offensive and, given that it is a very natural thing, again (like in the other thread) perhaps education is the key.

You had two posts that I saw. One was how it shouldn't be a problem if the woman covers her breast and baby, like an Arab woman who has to wear a burka, and the other was that the woman has to cover herself, like an Arab woman wearing a burka, out of respect.
So other than representing a fundamentalist Islamic point of view, what was your point?

I've had some mastitis and I want to make sure this isn't curdled before my little sucker-snookums clamps on." I'd probably find that offensive. But, as I said, in 67 years that hasn't happened to me.
