Among Trump's policies that differ from, well, other policies is his idea to replace income taxes with tariffs.

Economists (all of them): that's the dumbest idea we've ever heard.

Republicans: all economists are deep state operatives, Soros-funded plants, indoctrinated by woke schools and married to a trans-athlete using your sister's bathroom.

MAGA: Trump never said that. And if he did, he was joking. And if he wasn't joking its a great idea. And if it's a terrible idea, its not Trump's fault.

The idea has been roundly rejected by every economist available for comment. Its completely and utterly untenable. So why do voters favor Trump on the economy, floating nonsense into public discourse and calling it policy?

Income taxes are a government-imposed fee on a percentage of your income.

Taxes are imposed on citizens. Tariffs, often punitive, are levied on goods coming into the country. Businesses often pass these on to the consumer, so punishing Americans. The ones who import these goods? Not so much. Then these goods also get sales tax applied to further shaft the consumer.

So imposing tariffs on Chinese goods coming in hurts no one but the consumers. That's why it's a stupid plan.

Actually businesses ALWAYS pass tariffs to the consumer.
The idea behind the tariff is to increase the price, so that business goes to to companies within the country.
Of course if there is no taxation competition is vastly skewed. Question would be if there was any financial gain for the state, since no imports: no tariffs.

Biden campaigning to raise taxes. Since it is OK with our members, that means that they will not be affected (They THINK!). My granny says the cost of corp goods will go up. I think they know that, but then, maybe they do not? And, that it goes up for the poorest who buy things. The Sonhouse is always mad a drug purveyors, but they will HAVE to raise their prices if they pay more taxes. So fault your president, not the corps. Thick headed around here.
Oh, Trump campaigning to REDUCE taxes. But y'all wouldn't know about that. You do know abut his philandering, though, we should start a thread on all the philanderers. 😆 No one who has ever philandered should be allowed to be president.

Trump had the worst GDP and jobs growth numbers in his four years of any President since Herbert Hoover.
