In Pretti's case he was armed becuase he wanted to confront ICE agents. He was part of a group who were dedicated to harrassing ICE. He had motive to kill agents.

In Rittenhouse's case he was going into a violent demonstraton by BLM who were threatening whites. BLM was very vocal about it and made these threats publicly. Here is the story from Google:

Nah, you forget that your whole argument was that he was killed because he had a gun. The context around BLM is completely irrelevant.
