It's hard to fathom why you keep clinging to this absurd notion. As already shown, the Ukraine isn't terribly "democratic" and it was an economic basket case even before the invasion.

Russia's reasons for attacking it cannot possibly be based on such fairy tales no matter what the neocons are telling you.

Because it is not all absurd it is an obvious fact if you remember that the split between Russia and Ukraine turned into a land grab and hot war because Ukraine tried to join the EU without Putins permission. Why would Putin care if Ukraine joined the EU? The NATO thing makes obvious sense but the idea that Putin did not know from his network of spies and even legitimate diplomats that Ukraine was not getting to join NATO is patently one of the more ridiculous lies surrounding this war.
Perhaps you should stop listening to the Russian neoconservatives they are blowing smoke where the sun doesn’t shine.

This is ridiculous; your story is a fantasy. The Ukraine is not eligible for EU membership and couldn't be so for years, if not decades. Albania and North Macedonia have had candidate status for more than a decade but have made little progress in meeting the requirements of the Copenhagen criteria and Lisbon Treaty accession rules.
