Not gonna happen.

The thing we need in this country is discernment. We need to be able to separate ideas that have merit from ideas that are just stupid on their face.

We, as a country, used to be much better at this. For how many decades did we laugh at the ridiculous Donald Trump before America finally crossed the line of ignorance into Billy Bob territory? ...[text shortened]... he People, not being viewed as a tool for a Party caring only for themselves and their rich buddies.
You almost lost me with the ignorant reference to Donald Trump, but I hung in there for a moment…….
But THEN you lost me again when you implied that when something is expensive (overcharged) that there is something wrong. Really? So if I sell eggs at my egg farm fr $35/doz, is that wrong? Is it ‘ overcharging?’ No. If something is too expensive, no one has to buy it. So the person that walks away is not being overcharged, the price is just more than they would like to pay.
You liberals …..you’re so put-upon. Awwwww

Nononononono,, ,this thread is about the number one priority of affordability, it is not about poverty. I hope that you will start a thread on poverty.
Poverty and affordability go hand-in-hand, right? Isn't poverty just a severe lack of affordability?

Plus I was citing the very study you referenced in your OP.

No, they do NOT go hand in hand. Shallow thinking once again, just throw it out there.

Poverty and affordability are related, but they are not synonymous. Poverty describes a person’s lack of financial resources. We know that. Affordability describes the relationship between those resources and the cost of a particular good or service.

A millionaire can find a luxury yacht unaffordable without being poor. .
A poor person can afford certain necessities without escaping poverty.

If poverty is lack of affordability, then lowering prices alone would eliminate poverty!! Geez. You see, it would not. A person can have inexpensive goods available and still lack sufficient income, savings, or assets to meet basic needs.

Affordability is a question of what you can buy. Poverty is a question of the resources you have available to live. Confusing the two doesn’t solve either problem. You just say stuff. If they are hand in hand, the dictionary does not say they are. You say it as a socialist, but you are wrong. If a man cannot afford a yacht, your logic could say he is in poverty,,,,,he’d not have resources to buy it.

I said "severe" lack of affordability.

Regardless, your thread title says "see this before voting" as if it's a major issue. Isn't the fact that there are more red states experiencing poverty than blue states important to consider for voters?

Furthermore, your link seems to mostly focus on just California, not blue states in general. One state does not mean a trend.

Geez. Goalpost time.
You’re changing the subject. My point was that blue states tend to have higher living costs and less affordable housing than red states. Your response concerns poverty rates. My point is clear,,,,sy, you are right AvJoe,

Teo different measures, don’t you see. . Poverty is about income; affordability is about the relationship between income and the cost of necessities. A state can have lower housing costs and still have more people in poverty because its incomes are lower.

If you want to challenge my argument, show me that my comparison of living costs and housing affordability is wrong. Pointing to poverty rates doesn’t do that.

And yes, poverty matters to voters. So does whether people can afford a home and retain enough of their income to live comfortably. Why should we ignore one problem simply because another exists? That is the question. And forget the many other factors, like some people are quite content to live hand to mouth while you are out working hard every day. You can tackle that issue if you want to, but that sounds like a lot of typing to me.

According to research and analysis from the Berkeley Economy & Society Initiative and reports highlighted by outlets like Econofact and Newsweek, BLUE (Democratic-led) states generally have a higher cost of living and lower housing affordability than RED (Republican-led) states.

Surprise, huh?😱. There are so many factoids known to us, us who don’t wear blinders, who ...[text shortened]... cated posts, and who vote with educated information. You must get more info than that of MB et al.
Are you talking about the governors of these states? Is that what you mean by "led"?

And affordability for everything is lacking because of high fuel prices unless you are well off. Because Trump started a war with Iran. Trump is making everything less affordable by starting that unprovoked war.

The more we spend on fuel the less we have to spend for everything else. Trump said to vote as if he were on the ballot. People will do just that. They are not going to blame democrats since they didn't start the war.

The study you referenced in your OP doesn't show that. It only mentions California.

Iran: Better to read the world of them now than to have our grandchildren dealing with nukes

Fuel will be straightened out soon. Gotta have a bit of sacrifice on occasion.

So people will vote based on gas prices? Talarico is going to open the border. So the 80 xtra cents you pay for gas will be NOTHING compared to feeding housing and medicating all of the influx of all of those foreigners who cannot speak English into our country.
Pick one, you fool.

The headline is correct. Your ref to CA bears no relevance to the fact.
Red states are most affordable. Jesus. Y’all type anything. Only Stillhouse gets to do that.

They already have a nuke.

"Fuel will be straightened out soon"

You have been saying that for 8 months. Trump told you it would be over 7 months ago.

Get in the habit of including links with your posts, as you're often wrong about your claims.

To the forum, you have announced that Iran has a nuke. I will live my life accordingly based on what you just said.🤔 I hope that you are not lying. Are you lying? I think you are lying. Why would you lie on the forum, make us rely on what you say.?

Sorry. Here is another, there are hundreds. Looks like you all were surprised to know that red states are more affordable than blue state. One of you started writing about poverty, as if you thought that might change the point of this thread. Sorry, but this thread rules.

Because of the basic law of supply and demand.

It's not rocket surgery.
