@suzianne saidIf her bill passes,, she would indeed follow the stipulations of the Bill. Your next 3 sentences do not make sense:
This is typical Republican thinking. You all think, "Why, if I were her, I'd do this", when you're obviously NOT her, and so simply do not understand her being an actual human being. If her bill passes, I'm sure she would abide by the stipulations of her bill. Surely she wrote it because this is what she wants to do.
I mean, it's nice that you are concerned for her fin ...[text shortened]... of your residents "out on the street"? Apparently so. How much rent would you be collecting then?
"You call her a hypocrite,, yet she co-sponsored the bill 🤔 "
"Canceling these rent payments is 'theft of personal property'
"Her Bill does not exclude her tenants." ???? What does this mean. And, the Bill excludes no one. You must be reading Phranny.
And residents 'out on the street' is not part of the issue of post,. that would be another thread, would it not. This is about hypocrisy. And you say 'how much rent would I be collecting then'....this statement is totally irrelevant Suzianne, totally. How much rent a 'landlord collects then' has nothing to do with anything.
Whew.
@phranny saidOh, excellent idea - if it's VOLUNTARY
Not everyone renting gets rent relief. This bill is an effort to help those who can't pay rent right now due to direct impact of the pandemic on their lives. So she owns rental property and collects rent from those who can afford it but supports assistance for those who cannot. Sounds like an excellent idea.
Will the bill support landlords that can't make mortgage payments?
@averagejoe1 saidIt means that none of the Squad members who have rental property would benefit from this bill; if anything, they would lose money if this passes.
"Her Bill does not exclude her tenants." ???? What does this mean.
Therefore, there's no personal benefit for passing this bill; the Squad simply wants to help people, even if means the Squad members lose money. That's quite admirable.
@earl-of-trumps saidWhy can't any right wingers make the slightest effort to ascertain what is actually in the bill?

Here I'll help: https://omar.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-ilhan-omar-introduces-bill-cancel-all-rent-and-mortgage-payments-during
"The bill would constitute a full payment forgiveness, with no accumulation of debt for renters or homeowners and no negative impact on their credit rating or rental history. The legislation will establish a relief fund for landlords and mortgage holders to cover losses from the cancelled payments and create an optional fund to fully finance the purchase of private rental properties by non-profits, public housing authorities, cooperatives, community land trusts, and states or local governments—in order to increase the availability of affordable housing during this downturn."
EDIT: There's more specific details here: https://omar.house.gov/sites/omar.house.gov/files/documents/Omar%20-%20Rent%20%26%20Mortgage%20Cancellation%20Act%20-One%20Pager%20and%20Legislative%20Framework_1.pdf

@vivify saidHey.....if it is no big deal, how can so many news outlets write so many stories about it,,,,why would they? Could it be that something smells? If a bunch of Girl Scouts sold cookies yesterday, I don't think there would be hardly one story about it.

I guess Tlaib doesn't qualify to be squeaky clean, does she? It is not just me, you have heard my opinion (Not links, mind you) so what is yours???????????
@averagejoe1 saidYou got your "information" from Breitbart or Fox News or some other right wing propaganda site that didn't even bother to trouble your incurious mind with the actual details of the bill.

Another proof of right wing gullibility; you guys will literally believe anything you are told by these sites that you think discredit POC like Tlaib.
@no1marauder saidMy granny wonders how you get to believe YOUR sites, but I should not believe mine? I was wondering the same thing.

And does not Tlaib discredit herself, I did not have to do anything, it would have happened without me.
@AverageJoe1
The problem is people like you lack the ability to tell when a media outlet is biased or not.
Do you really think for instance, it is unbiased when Tucker Carlsen and that OTHER bitch says 'OH no don't let in those Afghan interpreters' they are not vetted and they could be ISIS'
and the like. You figure that is accurate reporting? It is just too bad partisan biased outlets like this are allowed to exist.
and of course to you they are the savior of America when in fact it may be the death of democracy in the US and dictators are the new norm.
Don't forget, democracy is fragile. The citizens have to work at it to keep it or would be dictators will worm their way in convincing people he or she is a god and therefore KNOWS the true way forward and the people fall for it hook line and sinker.
I think even YOU can figure out the ones I am talking about, for instance, there was a brief foray into democracy in Russia but 1917 came along...
You think it could never happen here?
And if it does, would you be ok with a dictator in the WH?
@averagejoe1 saidI’ll try again
This will clear the air. I assume that 'they' is me. The post you refer to says that I said "Sanders should not be rich if he is a Socialist'. I have never said that. So your brothers are saying something that is not true, which makes me think that that is why you are confused.
I wrote a post here that says he was a hypocrite, and that Tlaib is (a worse) hypocrite by ...[text shortened]... issues,, and flounders to recreate posts to their liking.
Oh, I just get so angry (a lib word).
“ So someone who makes thousands in rental income is advocating the waiving of rent arrears and you think that’s hypocritical or corrupt in some way?🙄
It’s those that are making thousands in rent and using their political office to oppose the bill that should be dragged out into the street and publicly whipped.”
@sonhouse saiddarn, I am just stuck on your first paragraph, where Tucker and many more warn us all that bad people, who Will do us harm, maybe break laws that they are not even aware of (imagine that!), might slip into our country.....that, they could be Isis!!! So you think that that is BS?? And I am supposed to read the rest of you post after seeing such a statement from you?

Everyone, make note that Sonhouse says Tucker Carlson types think Isis could slip in, but Sonhouse is saying that that is BS.
@kevcvs57 saidYou are a bit off the subject of this Tlaib person making people pay rent on the one hand, but co-sponsoring a bill to give renters free lodging. Call it what you will...but it is SOMETHING that stinks.

But off-issue you go, mr liberal, and speak of 'Those" who are making money on rent. I myself do. Then you say that political people oppose the bill. You do not give the reasons they oppose it, but for the record, I myself oppose it, while making money on rent. What is wrong with that, Kevcvs? You write it as if no one should oppose it. I like Trump, you oppose Trump. So little time, so many issues. I assume you like the bill? I don't like the bill.
The point was Tlaib being a hypocrite. Why do libs strike out at the first trigger that hits their mind?
@averagejoe1 saidNo, she isn't a "hypocrite" for having rental income but sponsoring a law that gives rental and mortgage relief.

I suggest you look up what "hypocrite" means.
You are too ignorant and lazy to even make a cursory study of what the bill contains or you wouldn't regurgitate such brainless claims.
@averagejoe1 saidTucker, like you, is a bigot who doesn't want people with the wrong complexion to immigrate to the US.

The ISIS thing is just a smokescreen.
@no1marauder saidLet's say he and I are what you say we are. OK. Now, let us look at what he said. It is a major issue of concern, likely to turn out to be true as they set something off at T Square. Don't you think?
Tucker, like you, is a bigot who doesn't want people with the wrong complexion to immigrate to the US.
The ISIS thing is just a smokescreen.
So,, the fact that he and I are bigots as you say has absolutely nothing to do with the facts which he expressed on his show.
You are a piece of work. Your post is meaningless, meant to say that his being a bigot has some bearing on the fact that he spoke. Do you not get that?....Seriously???
