The US has been intermingling "cultures" for centuries and ignorant bigots have been decrying that process for centuries. In point of fact, there is little substantive difference between the "cultures" of black and white Americans (blacks tend to be a bit more religious might be the biggest one), so when right wingers complain about "cultures" they are simply code wording.
