Both my parents are black with white ancestry, but not enough European to look or be considered white; same with me.

No. No it doesn’t.

Besides the extreme right element in the Netherlands (PVV and FvD) ; which acount for roughly 30 of the 150 seats in government, most Dutch people are quite liberal.

Yes. There is an influencial bible belt, but that is not racist, more conservative along religious lines. So their “concern” is not racist, but rather non-protestant christian.

As for history, I’ve pointed this out multiple times: the Dutch aren’t too concerned with anything that didn’t affect them directly. Except WW2... and even that is fading.

So, if you say: “The Dutch shipping companies in 1700 were the envy of the world.”
Most Dutch people will say: “Cool beans. Look how cool we were.”
And other than that, not give a fck.

And if you say: “The Dutch VOC abused slaves, killed thousands and raped children.”
Most Dutch people will say: “That’s verschrikkelijk attrocious.”
And other than that, not give a fck.

You seem to think the Dutch are stooped in history. They are not.
The average Dutch person doesn’t even know that the treaty of Westphalia granted them independence from the Holy Roman Empire. They think their rebels fought them independence from the Spanish!

Just because you think history is what makes the “now”, doesn’t make it a measurement for others.

Yes. I tend to think in historic tolls. But, I’m originally Scottish.

The “average” Dutch person is very grounded, problem solving and down to
earth.
What the fck has he or she got to do with what happened 300 or 70 or 3000 years ago?

And that is the fact of the matter.
If you want to reach a Dutch person, speak about the now and the consequences for the future.

Quid pro quo. I would ask Duchess to be "more specific" as well.

What specifically does "non-white" mean? Does it mean Asian? Hispanic? Aboriginal? Arab? Native American? Black? Are you mixed?

I'll answer your question after you answer this.

What is your racial makeup?

Both my parents are black, born in Haiti; I was born in the U.S., first generation. My mother is light-skinned (think Mariah Carey), but my father looks almost exactly like OJ, both in skin tone, facial appearance, build and hair. I used to speak Creole pretty well, but that ability has dulled over time. My sister (who is lighter than I am), only a year younger, is still very fluent, despite also having been born in the States. We both lived in Haiti for a few years as toddlers, for about 3 years until I was 5 and moved back to the U.S.

I'm descended from both slaves, and slave-owners from Denmark (mother's side) and I have French ancestry on my father's. I have a pretty "checkered' family as a result. I have both light and darker-toned aunts from both sides of my family. Both sets of grandparents are dark-skinned. My father's side consists of more dark-skinned people than my mother's.

I'm not sure of the exact racial makeup, but my skin tone is similar to David Blaine, the magician. My hair is listed as around C3 as far as texture. If I let it grow, it becomes an afro. I currently have twists.

You should have held out for more info. She hardly answered you and you're giving her precise details.

Note that 'Hispanic' is a cultural / linguistic term, not a 'racial' one.
Hispanics can be of any 'race'.

Not quite. Hispanics are partially southwestern European. However most of them are mixed race.

You consider the US Census an authority on race and culture?

I'd love to see Duchess64 lecture the Mexica Movement about their Hispanicity:

Can I at least know what "Asian" means as far as nationality? Is it Chinese? Thai?
Laotian?
