I believe in your opinion, as long as the US does not get involved with it's military. If we do get involved with force a will stuff a 17 inch bayonet down my throat and crank my head off.

GRANNY.
That's right, I don't want war to free Tibet. I don't believe in violence, Dalai Lama don't want violence in any form.

What I want is a free Tibet, I want the Chinese occupation of Tibet to end.

But I'll tell you how you think you know. You've projected it. You've projected it because it fits your stereotypical world view and you can go on feeling smug about yourself with respect to others.
Nice try. No projections here. Just the facts ma'am.

Just look at the clips on tv, or in the newspaper, blogs, internet.

Check out the clothes. See those Nike's and Reeboks? (made in China) How bout all those cheapo t-shirts? (made in china).

While it's impossible to tell where every piece is from, the evidence is all there. The "protest" that was in toronto a few weeks ago that I watched, people were wearing tonnes of stuff that was made in china. Hell, i found one of the signs on the ground later and the paper the sign was written on was from frickin china!

It's the same as vegetarians who wear leather shoes and fur coats. Bunch of hippy (crits)

Oh, and I don't need your permission to go on feeling smug about myself. I've got that one nailed down already.

Ah...anecdotal evidence. The basis of most stereotypes.

Relevant facts would be:
What percentage were wearing Nike's and Reebok's?
What percentage were wearing 'cheapo t-shirts' and what percent of 'cheapo t-shirts' are made in China.

Fact is, you cannot know these things. Hence, you project.

I had direct, first hand evidence in...wait for it....MY HANDS and you're calling it anecdotal?

FACT: Alot of the running shoes were made in china that people were wearing

FACT: The paper used to print some of the signs was from China in the toronto protest

FACT: China makes a gigantic percentage of the products that westerners buy.

FACT: Not many westerners approve of china's policy to Tibet

FACT: Not many westeners care where they buy their products from.

You are not using the flavour of the month word "project" properly. Hopefully this phrase will find itself on the scrap heap along with "going forward" and "NOT!"

'A lot' - undefined and you have no way of telling whether those protesting bought Made in China products. All those brands also have significant numbers of factories elsewhere.

'Some' - undefined. Same criticism as above applies to all signs except the one you saw.

'gigantic percentage that westerners buy' - no direct link with protesters hypocrisy. You need to assume they behave as other to draw information from the average. Same applies for the last two 'facts'.

You're running on empty. For your 'facts' to be relevant you need to assume the stereotype you create. It's essentially a circular argument.

And if I'm not using the word 'project' correctly, then feel free to correct me towards a better one. I'm certainly willing to learn and surely you understand what I meant.

"significant number" - undefined. According to your logic you can't use this as a counter argument. Apparently you want me to do some kind of protester shoe survey and then match up the specific brand type to the factory that is was made. then you have to go and track down where are the materials that went into making the shoe were from since the materials are not made at the factory but merely shipped to the factory for assembly. I'll save you the work. Guess where the materials come from?

The last 3 facts are related to the thread topic of do people really care about tibet...not to the protest in toronto. I apologize for you not being able to figure that one out.

Nike has factories in over 45 countries. FACT.

You've convinced yourself that the Nike's you see were mostly made in China because you live in your own deluded stereotypes. There's no other explanations.

Same goes for your materials 'argument'. Pick a material and go see how many countries produce it.

Bit off topic, but this made me laugh.
