@AverageJoe1 saidLike when the companies are too big to fail and they get bailed out with government (the people's) money.
Europe? No, this is the USA (capitalist, freedom, independence from govt, such as that).
American capitalism. Debts are socialized but profits are privatized.
@moonbus saidThere is another argument, though, which illustrates the problem of AvJoe's little one horse water trailer. 😆
Fire departments also should not be run on subscriptions. The general weal requires that every building on fire should be quenched, regardless whether the owner is in arrears.
Suppose the County Courthouse is ablaze? Or the police station? Or the woods which surrounds the town - threatening everyone?
AvJoe's Private Fire Truck is not reliable enough to deal with that. AvJoe simply cannot be trusted with that responsibility. In pursuit of greater profit, he might sell his water truck tomorrow and open a shoe store. And what if AvJoe just hates the police? Or lost a court case? Or hates everyone in town? Such is the fickle nature of people.
Sure, people have tried to set up private fire departments with subscriptions. They gave up on that because we need taxes to support a public fire department anyway. The public needs a fire department to address the public's needs - which then can easily expand to "protects all of us equally," by putting out fires - equally.
This is the thing AvJoe's tiny little brain cannot grasp. The free market does some things very well but NOT EVERYTHING! 😆
@AverageJoe1 saidPiss off.
Some people a lot more knowledgeable than you and the KING (senators committees, etc) are going to vet him on these matters this week. They may turn Trump down on this, after they agree with you!!!!! that RFK is not qualified.
Diff in you and me, we elected these people to make such decisions, I abide everytime with their decisions.
You angry people, no way. G ...[text shortened]... ue 'em since you don't like their votes!!!
Sue,,,,is this an assault on democracy?? By Dems?
@spruce112358 saidHealthcare shouldn't BE a "risk".
But you *are* willing to risk death in order to feel better. 😆
So then it is just a matter of "how much risk"?
Imagine a world where healthcare is... neither of those two things.
@spruce112358 saidMy view is that, since regulation is necessary, then so are price controls.
And drugs are expensive for the same reason: regulation. 😆
Protecting drugs with patents, preventing companies from referring to data of chemically similar compounds in their submissions, preventing generic and biosimilar competition, and restricting manufacturing and distribution does not make drugs safer or more effective. All those regulations do is protect profit ...[text shortened]... es (e.g. Europe)
- a crony-capitalist market will have the highest prices (e.g. The United States).
@AverageJoe1 saidBecause he's anti-vax. Duhhh...
Is this a good thread to ask.....What in the hell is RFK about Polio? Why stop there, RFK? How about the other vaccines, protecting us from the many poxes.??
Can anyone share here the reasons this has come up?
@AverageJoe1 saidDo you now see the dangers of fringe science in the hands of Republicans?
But how can they justify taking a chance of polio returning? I assume that it will?
@Metal-Brain saidPay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Remember when Seth Rich was shot in the back and murdered?
Did his murder get anywhere near the attention Luigi got? Of course not, because Seth Rich was not a CEO.
https://thewashingtonstandard.com/eyewitness-seth-rich-shooting-seth-rich-shot-didnt-even-know-shot/
The corporate news media cares about corporate CEOs, not the guy that leaked the DNC emails.
@Metal-Brain saidYour facts are mangled into an incomprehensible mess.
The individual mandate was a republican idea. Democrats were against it until Obama adopted it. The democrat plan was single payer. Obama fought for the republican individual mandate plan.
@KingDavid403 saidBut tell those same people that their "pro-life" stance requires them to support school lunch programs and they wig out on you.
IPOL replaced their previous IPV, POLIOVAX, discontinued because it used an aborted fetal cell line.
How dare they save peoples lives. That's the pro-lifers for you; use pig cells and risk millions of people lives of getting Polio. We will see how long that works. 🙄 I suspect an outbreak of Polio again soon. An outbreak of the virus that will now be resistant ...[text shortened]... a sperm-cell in it from an un-wanted pregnancy, or in a test tube because that's pro-life; somehow.
@AverageJoe1 saidSure there is... in the first three words.
Because he knew that a socialistic insurance enterprise would not pass muster, and thus he would lose. He wanted to be in a postion of winning. He was a good politician, no doubt.
I'm right, man, I hate it.
Citizens like me would be wring letters to our congressmen saying things like....I don't want to pay for Metal Brain's medical care. Which prompts a question... ...[text shortened]... red by law to pay for heatlh care of MJetal Brain? There is no such provision in the Constitution.
We The People.
Not Me the Person. Him the Other Person. Her the Other Person.
No. It is WE the People.
@AverageJoe1 saidYou assume too much.
Europe? No, this is the USA (capitalist, freedom, independence from govt, such as that). If you are suggesting changing our system, it can hardly mirror that of those European societies.
Your 'capping' comment gives me the willies. I produce products. Could this govt capping expand into capping my products?
@AverageJoe1 saidHow about "There should be no Private Companies"? If all you can do is grift people out of their money, then F you, you don't need to be doing business.
What are you saying, you are writing like a liberal.
You compare private for-profit businesses/corporations with Public Utilities? And, you suggest that private corps have their products capped!?!?? And you think we, as stockholders of the corporations, in it for the money, should not be afraid.
None of you have made a lick of sense since November 5. Pitiful. Make it easy on yourselves and get on the Train 47!
Help Me Rhonda
How does that grab you?
@AverageJoe1 saidSee how long you have your little grifting company, with that attitude.
Hey KING! I'm having a light moment. Let's say I live in a small community, closest municipal fire station is 28 miles away. I decide to buy a truck with a water tank on it, for delivering water, fighting fires. I go through a neighborhood and sell 'insurance' to the homeowners, to come a'runin and put out a fire if the home is on fire. There are 45 houses, 40 of ...[text shortened]... to put out the fire.
Am I legally responsible to put out the fire, or can I just watch it burn?
