If not, a political, negotiated settlement would be an optimal result.
A pro-Russian government put in place by occupying Russian troops is hardly a viable possibility without a war of resistance that would make the USSR and US experience in Afghanistan pale in comparison.

See I'd love to see that since the US, EU, IMF and others were pushing for Shokin's removal because he wasn't investigating corruption in the Ukraine. But it would sure be a bombshell if Joe Biden publicly admitted he personally threatened to withhold loans (which he had no power to do) IF a non-existent investigation of his son wasn't halted.
