@Metal-Brain
That is like ten year old news but true to form you trot it out just like your COMRADE boss told you to. We are actually working to end that situation but you would never accept THAT reality. We KNOW it is wrong to not be in the world court and we made plenty of mistakes in the froth of war but tell me how many towns were bombed out by Americans say in Afghanistan, you KNOW full well Russians are DELIBERATELY killing innocent civilians RIGHT NOW as we speak, like the MULTIPLE missile attack on a civilian train station filled with THOUSANDS of fleeing refugees and the Russians see that as weakness because they KNOW because they have been Propagandized to KNOW ALL Ukranians are NAZI's and we all know what Nazi's did to the Russians in WW2 but that was 80 odd years ago and now Putin is using that excuse to kill innocent BABIES LITERALLY in Ukraine.
If you actually watched something besides FOX TRAITOR NEWS you would have seen the CHILDREN living in Ukraine with their parents living in Russian and the phone calls to them where the parents REFUSE to believe there are Russians killing civilians in Ukraine actually calling the children CRAZY and IDIOTS where one girl said her mom is a 100% Putinite JUST LIKE here with that TRAITOR TRUMP.
But you would NEVER even CONSENT to view videos like that so you can believe your own self delusions about the real world COMRADE.
@sonhouse saidThis is about the ICC. The members of the court include 123 countries. Russia and Ukraine are omitted as they signed the statute but did not ratify it.

You see? Nobody wants justice that has a powerful military. Like I said before, all of the big international power players are black hats. The propagandists keep pushing that silly idea of good vs. evil crap on you though. Why do you buy into that absurdity every time? You are an adult now. Think like one.
@sonhouse saidHe is correct though. The US does not recognise the ICC. And went so far as to pass a law that they find they have the right to invade the Netherlands if they put US citizens on trial.

The US is evil.
@shavixmir
And it looks like if Dems have their way we WILL be part of that court.

CLINTON signed the agreement, but BUSH killed it, so we need to take it up with the GOP ZOMBIES hell bent on killing our democracy and OF COURSE as a newly minted banana republic with a huge military if they get their way.
@sonhouse saidThe Clinton administration participated actively in negotiations towards the International Criminal Court treaty, seeking Security Council screening of cases. If adopted, this would have enabled the US to veto any dockets it opposed. When other countries refused to agree to such an unequal standard of justice, the US campaigned to weaken and undermine the court.

Clinton is a war criminal as well.
@metal-brain saidYes. But much the same as that the US opposing the ICC is evil and does nothing but prove their hypocrisy, the US’s evil and hypocrisy says nothing about other nations’ behaviour.

You seem, over various threads, to want to excuse Russian behaviour by pointing out America’s behaviour.
That does not stand. The world isn’t black and white. And just because one country is a bastard, doesn’t mean another country isn’t.
@shavixmir saidWhen did I excuse Russian behaviour? I am just pointing out the obvious hypocrisy of demonizing Russia and Putin when the USA does the same thing and many nations support the double standard. Just take NBC's Meet the Press for example. Chuck Todd started the show by using the words "Russian Brutality" in his first sentence. Is that how NBC's Meet the Press covered Bush's invasion of Iraq?

NBC's Meet the Press didn't start the show by saying "Bush's brutality" in the first sentence of their show during the Iraq war. Can we stop pretending there is no anti Russian propaganda now?
@metal-brain saidU.S. hypocrisy doesn't diminish the fact the invasion was indeed Russian brutality.

@vivify saidSo?
U.S. hypocrisy doesn't diminish the fact the invasion was indeed Russian brutality.
There was Bush brutality when he invaded Iraq. Are you willing to call it that every time Bush's name comes up? How about calling Gen. Lloyd Austin "the Butcher of Iraq" every time his name comes up?

Nobody is saying Bush and Blair aren’t war criminals.
What is being said is that just because the US’s behaviour is attrocious, doesn’t mean Russia’s isn’t.
And by all reliable reports, Russia has committed serious crimes in their invasion of Ukraine.
Which, de facto, is one of the main reasons they shouldn’t have invaded anyway.
@Metal-Brain
There are actually two different things.
1) The US committed a war crime that is proved but the US remained unpunished. Russia allegedly committed a war crime that is still unproved, but Russia is to be sued in the ICC, and the sanctions are coming already.
Russia is right in saying that it is the "American exceptionalism", discriminative justice, selective processing.
2) The US did so, and it remained unpunished. Therefore, Russia also has a right to do so.
- While this kind of reasoning is popular in Russian propaganda, it is not valid. From the fact that your neighbour committed a murder, it does not follow that you are allowed to commit a murder.
@eintaluj saidExactly.

@vivify saidThe invasion of another country in itself is not a war crime. It is, at best, a crime against peace. ICC has no means to sue and punish for crimes against peace. ICC can only handle such things as war crimes - that are related to the manner in which the war is conducted.
U.S. hypocrisy doesn't diminish the fact the invasion was indeed Russian brutality.
Moreover, the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq were in any event less justifiable than the present Russian invasion of Ukraine. The US mainland had nothing to do with Afghanistan or Iraq, but Russia can still maintain that Ukraine was a security threat to Russia.
@shavixmir saidWhat is "reliable report"? There are "reliable reports" that Ukraine committed war crimes and genocide in Donbas starting from 2014. Approximately 14 000 people were killed. There are also "reliable reports" that in the present Russia/Ukraine war, both sides have committed war crimes. Indeed, some cases are proven without doubt while the Western propaganda is completely silent about it.
