The purpose of talking is about communication and explanation. Right? So let's hear what our president said about the growing worries about the threats to modern society caused by rapid development of AI:

The AI will not be taking over the rest of the wor- –the whole thing is a hoax. Now, with that, we have to be a little bit careful. We have to be, you know, we have to do things, and we have to do them prudently. It’s going to be fine. We’ll always have something to stop them, right? We have a little gear — boom.

And what might a normal president say were he given an opportunity to talk to the world about this emergent potentially-threatening technology?
Our modern society has forced us to become familiar with a wide variety of threats, from terrorism to natural disasters to pandemics. But public predictions of losing control over the internet, or human civilization ending entirely, makes people sit up and take notice. Tonight, I’d like to outline how our government and industry leaders are taking steps to ensure those terrible fates never come to pass.... (here he/she would say specific things that are being done to mitigate risks while promoting the technology as a driver of economic growth)... But we have faced great threats before and great technological changes — the splitting of the atom, the widespread adoption of computers at work and in the home, the rise of the internet. We will face these challenges, and emerge stronger than before, once again. May God bless you all, and may God bless the United States of America.

Leaving the AI argument aside for a second, your Trump quote seems to be what animates his supporters.

"See? He talks like us. He's one of us." Ignoring the fact that he's a billionaire and they're not. Have you tried to talk to one of these midwest boomers like you might meet at a grocery store? Most of the time it's almost incomprehensible, just like Trump.

I don't think midwest boomers are at the grocery store bragging about how they know its all a hoax because their cousin used to work at MIT but also don't worry about it because they have a little gear. It's all a hoax but we have to be a little bit careful?

I'd imagine many midwest boomers have noticed that their fishing hole is no longer usable because an AI data center went in, or they like AI because it helps them write emails, or they once saw a girl in the boys room and it traumatized them for life.

Spot a difference? Yeah, one of them is incoherent and has a personal financial stake in Big Data, the other is not and does not.

You are the Fauci of AI 😂😂

First, Trump’s remarks don’t actually amount to “AI has no risks.” In the very passage you quoted, Trump says, “we have to be a little bit careful” and “we have to do things prudently.” So you quite the dismissive portions but give muchless weight to the qualification immediately following them. Jesus.

Second, Trump’s administration has in fact taken concrete actions concerning AI security and risk. I ain’t going to list them .

And ironical is yourhypothetical “normal president” speech: the things he says that president would supposedly say are actually quite close to things the administration has said elsewhere. A White House statement described AI as a major technological competition !! and itsaid the administration was pursuing a “risk-informed” approach while building AI infrastructure and strengthening security. Geez
I think you’re proving my point rather than disproving it. You have taken Trump’s off-the-cuff remarks and compared them with a carefully written hypothetical presidential speech thatyou INVENTED YOURSELF!! Geez.. That’s not exactly an apples two oranges comparison!

You sre criticizing the president for not giving the speech you ‘wish ‘ he had given, rather than answering what he actuallly said.
So you created a hypothetical ideal presidential speech and then treated the difference in rhetoric as evidence about the substance of the administration’s AI policy. Those are two different questions.

My opinion on AI is not based on trump’s opinion about AI.

We KNOW crypto is a scam. Trump touted it on TV and in case you missed he is a SITTING PRESIDENT who is not supposed to make money just because he is POTUS. Ever hear of the Emoluments clause?
