Yes. They do need cuts. It's maybe arguable that social security is "solvent" but its a huge chunk out of every paycheck for 40 years. I want to opt out.

You're 100% wrong with this one. It's covered by the FICA tax; and, currently there's 2.6 trillion in the trust fund. That's why they want to get rid of it see? Furthermore, about 65% of our national debt is owed to this trust fund because they have been stealing from it since Regan; all thanks to Regan. They don't want to pay any of it back and they want to pocket what is left in there. They owe trillions to this trust fund.
What's swallowing everything up is military spending; around 800 billion every year now a days.

It did until around five years ago. However, now they are not taking in enough and are dipping into the 2.6 trillion left in the trust-fund. They've been balancing the budget with trust-fund money since Regan with iou's. That's where much of our national debt is owed too. OURSELVES! Our own piggy bank; the Social Security Trust Fund. Military spending is much of our debt problem.
