@no1marauder saidMy my, a lib not answering a question. Should he protect the border?
Abbott should obey the law like everyone else.
If he refuses to, he should be arrested.
The big law, the constitution, has something in there about the government protecting its borders from invasion. Please lexnex it for us so we will all be on the same page, maybe a link, so we will know that that law trumps the pissant laws you speak of.
Dont tell me you are going to have another bad day on the forum
@averagejoe1 saidRead the Somin article I just linked to; he explains it so clearly even someone as incredibly stupid as you should understand it.

Abbott can't "protect the border" by violating Federal law and the Constitution by disobeying a SCOTUS order (in a lawsuit he initiated BTW). Get that through your thick head; nothing "trumps" the Constitution.
@no1marauder saidMy my. look at Marauder highlighting 'protect teh border' , implying that is candyass stuff. The border is nothing to Marauder. it should not be there. He has never said that he thinks we should control access of alens, but rather, 'Follow the law!' or some such crap. Biden does not 'follow the law', his oath, nor the laws in place which have kept illegals out for decades.

Maybe Marauder can tell us why WE should follow he law, Abbot should follow the law, but Biden should not follow the law. This should be good. Everyone get ready for a brain-twister. No, he will not respond. He can't. He has never said ONE cross thiing about Biden. He will not now.
@averagejoe1 saidName the specific statute that pertains to immigration that Joe Biden is supposedly not following.

Is it your position NOW that Governors can disobey rulings and orders from the SCOTUS? What is the legal authority for such a claim?
The fact is that illegal immigration has been happening at elevated levels for many years including during the past administration. You are either incredibly ignorant or a habitual liar to pretend otherwise.

specifically what ruling is a governor disobeying?
@mott-the-hoople saidSpecifically, the one that said Border Patrol could cut the razor wire deployed to prevent them from reaching certain areas of the border. Abbott continues to deploy the Texas National Guard with orders to prevent the BP from doing so.

More specifically, a lower court, in response to a lawsuit Texas initiated, granted a preliminary injunction barring the Federal government from removing the razor wire placed in certain border areas by the State. The SCOTUS, however, vacated that preliminary injunction, meaning the Feds are free to remove such wire if it interferes with the Border Patrol's activities. Abbott, however, is still ordering the Texas National Guard to prevent the BP from removing the wire. This is open rebellion to the authority of the government of the United States and would justifying federalizing the TNG to suppress said rebellion. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/10/12406

@mott-the-hoople saidThis ridiculous strategy of yours of claiming that something is a lie that can be verified in about 30 seconds by a Google search is moronic.

"Earlier this week, the Supreme Court said U.S. Border Patrol agents could remove razor wire that the state put in place along the Rio Grande River.
The Homeland Security Department is demanding immediate access to a section of the border and being blocked with razor wire and fencing. But Texas Governor Greg Abbott is doubling down, blocking the agents from entering the area and saying Texas constitutional authority is — quote — "the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary.""

"On Jan. 22, the court sided with the Biden administration in a 5-4 decision, granting its request to let it remove the razor wire, at least while a lawsuit plays out in lower courts. After the decision, Abbott said on X that he "will continue to defend Texas' constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property." https://www.statesman.com/story/news/politics/politifact/2024/01/26/eagle-pass-tensions-are-unprecedented-but-it-isnt-civil-war/72337940007/

@no1marauder saidthe scotus ruling only vacated a lower ruling that said Texas could prevent feds from cutting razor wire. The ruling doesn’t prevent Texas from securing problem areas.

““Although Texas is now allowing Border Patrol to access the boat ramp with restrictions, we ask that Border Patrol be granted full access consistent with the perpetual easement,” the letter says.”
