Thanks.
Yeah, I don't agree with this. You don't have to wish anyone "Merry Christmas" if you don't want to, but it's useless to ignore the reason for a holiday. If anything, it's an opportunity teach history and culture.
My one exception is with Columbus Day. He's not an American and never accomplished anything for the U.S. So why should he celebrated as an Americ ...[text shortened]... Columbus Day and use that as an opportunity to teach about European colonization and slave trading.
Teaching such facts probably won't be allowed in most Red States soon.

"Hurt feelings". Oh boohoo. The shame of it all - not that an immigrant will EVER move into a country
and say that their feelings are hurt because of national holidays. Christmas hurts your feelings? then SCREW.
"Hurt feelings". Of course they have no problem at ALL at hurting the feelings of the vast majority of AMERICANS.
freeking freak balls. Who else but a liberal could have this much gall.
@no1marauder saidNaaa, I quite disagree. Let's get rid of Columbus Day and replace it with Economics Day, starting with our kids when they are 5 years old. Teach them the road to prosperity and self-reliance, yessir, that is what I think. Or, they can stay with memorizing how many slaves were stuffed below decks 100s of years ago. Real good stuff to put in their minds as they run out to recess. Good idea, Marauder.

@very-musty saidThere are many countries where the bulk of the population hate Americans, and would laugh to see it fall and descend in to a state of civil unrest. That will make their day. Those Eastern European countries top the list.

Romania is a shythole.
@earl-of-trumps saidRemember when conservatives were butthurt over one guy kneeling during a football game? Stop pretending conservatives aren't sensitive crybabies.

@earl-of-trumps saidUnfortunately BLM and ANTIFA not going to stop until they get what they want, or what they deserve. I hope it is the latter.

@no1marauder saidConservatives complain about "erasing history" when Confederate flags are removed and block teaching history from classrooms.

@averagejoe1 saidYou want to force feed 5 year olds capitalist propaganda yet have them be shielded from learning the facts of their own country's history?

Personally, I don't see how you can teach children even at the elementary school level without acquainting them with the unpleasant facts regarding the conquest of the Americas and the introduction and growth of slavery. Even a first grader is likely to have heard of the American Civil War; how can the causes of that conflict be taught without discussing slavery?
@earl-of-trumps saidI'm sure you must know that is utter nonsense and propaganda by now. Yet, you keep repeating it.
BLM, Antifa. Those are the two biggest viruses promoting a race war. No doubt.
Lying has become a necessity for right wingers who aren't completely ignorant.
@dood111 saidGet rid of these people ? How ???
Removing holiday names and replacing them with politically correct titles is what happened during the French Revolution and will have the same result.
Eventually Americans will wake up to the nonsense and get rid of these people.
You have a plan, I presume ? 😲
@no1marauder saidThat may be 'new thread' material, I was simply responding to your comment about the prospects of getting rid of the name Columbus Day. That is, what then would we call that day. Then, being a practical conservative and looking to the future(s) of our children, ,,,,,yeah, I figure that I would replace it with classes on looking forward......Looking backwards (studying history) has its place too.

So, drop teaching about Columbus and the Nina Pina and Santa Maria and replace with how to get ahead in life, preparing them to compete??? Got a nice ring to it. You can start a thread on Capitalist Propaganda. Can't wait. Can you concise it by keeping it as a comparison to your Marxism,,,,,that is, which world to we all want to live in? Cool.
@averagejoe1 saidI'm no longer going to keep responding to your accusations of my "Marxism".

What Columbus did should be taught, but he should not be honored with a holiday.
IF you want to teach children how capitalism works in practice fine but you'd quickly have to give up on telling them fairy tales like our society's wealthy "work harder" than their working and middle class parents.
@earl-of-trumps saidWell if it gets that bad the rich kids of Antifa will stay home and avoid the carnage.
BLM, Antifa. Those are the two biggest viruses promoting a race war. No doubt.
They protest for show and to feel virtuous.
The Antifa street kids don't have much to lose though 🤔
