Would Godzilla crawl back if he met King-Kong? Do the right thing!

What do you think of the Cthulhu angle? Knowing JJ I'd guess we'll never know what it is exactly.

I reckon he's playing with fire with this one. The whole Cthulhu ethos isn't exactly well known in comparison to the likes of Godzilla and King-Kong, and it's not really a story you can easily explain in the time frame of one movie. Plus dragging the beast over to New York makes it yet another horrible 'Hollywood-isation', so I can only see JJ dumping most of the background storyline and history in favour of fast-action, over-the-top special effects.
