she'd been chatting with a 32 year old man over the internet, it looks like he met and killed her, he's now been arrested. Scarry scarry stuff.

She was told to stay off the Spirituality Forum.

See what happens with disobedient kiddos?

Would you not allow a 17-year-old daughter to use the internet?

Only after he has screened it to ensure there are no people like himself or plonkers who might take advantage of her situation. πŸ˜›

When should we as parents 'let go'?
I was using UseNet and IRC at 14 and chatting on ICQ at 16. Nothing ever happened to me.

Were you leaving to spend the night with strangers you met online?

at that age it is hard for parents to tell them what they can do on the internet, especially as kids can leave home at 16

tragic shame though πŸ™

When I was a kid, my parents made sure I knew the potential dangers of meeting random strangers (such as people from the internet).

It was called 'common sense'. You don't see a lot of it about these days!

When I was a kid there were no computers or internet.

My mates had yo-yos.

I was so poor all I had was a yo! πŸ˜€

"Non-random" strangers, though, are the nicest bunch of people you'd ever want to meet.
