does anyone know the name of 1980s sci fi film that involved a guy stuck on a planet.

He had a vehicle that he built on a v shaped part on the front (like a snow plough). the planet he was on was a desert planet.

the film is not 'mine space'.

any suggestions?

Cheers.

Could it have possibly been "Road Warrior" with Mel Gibson? The rag-tag group of survivors in the desert repair a big rig for the final escape from their compound, and one of the accessories added is this huge v-shaped blade on the front. As the rig rolls out of the compound you see the smash aside a few of the bad guys cars, the main bad guy (Lord Humungus who always wore a metal mask over his face) who put a bullet into the radiator when the rig was brought into the compound tries to do the same thing again, but you get to see a closeup of the bullets impacting on the big blade. And of course, the V-blade is seen again in the climax of the massive chase as Lord Humungus hits the nitrous oxide on his car to try to catch up to Mad Max (not realizing that Max has turned around and is heading back right toward him) and as he comes around a corner/over a hill, he suddenly sees the big truck and the huge V-blade right in front of him, and his car impacts against the blade and explodes into a zillion pieces.

Maybe just maybe that is the one you're thinking of? There are some clips of the driving scenes at:

and near the 1:40 mark you start to see the truck with the added blade.

Here's a picture from "Damnation Alley" ... anything? The nose is sort of v-shaped, but I know it's nothing like you were describing.

Any details you remember at all? Did the guy who built it have a beard, a mustache, did he have a talking monkey, the color of his clothes, was he alone,... anything at all might give a vital clue.

Hi Doctor Rat,
no it is definitely not Road Warrior.
the v shaped thing they used on that is very similar to the one in the 'unknown' movie I am trying to find the title to.
Cheers.

Spacehunter: Adventures In The Forbidden Zone ? It was in 3-D, 1984. He drove a big tank looking thing like what you describe, a very young Molly Ringwald was in it.

In Spachunter, Wolf (played by Peter Strauss) drove this big car, but it didn't have a plow on it. You can see pictures of Wolf's car on youtube clips. Did Metalstorm: the Destruction of Jared Syn maybe have this plow thingy?

that poster doesn't look quite like David Carradine, to me ... maybe he beefed up for the film.

This movie you describe sounds like Mad Max 2 ,The next one was Mad Max 3 (Beyond Thunderdome)with Tina Turner in it.
