Ok, this I understand but would someone who knew a bank robbery was going to take place and didn't tell the police get life imprisonment with no possibility of parole?
I'm not saying the guy should be set free or anything, I'm just asking because I fear that punishment for crime is starting to depend on the consequences of it or even how many people know a ...[text shortened]... On the other hand he seems rather pleased that he did so perhaps it's not too bad anyway.
I haven't been following the case closely enough to understand exactly what he confessed to and was found guilty of. While I get your point, it does seem at first glance that there's some justification for a relatively heavy sentence. Yes the hijackers 'got lucky' by killing several thousand people. But it was foreseeable they would kill several hundred.
