Public spending per student > Tertiary level

(and if we didn't have to spend so much defending world peace, there'd be more to spend on the students.)

Mhmmmm...yes, interesting site.
Using those figures:
...
We also note that the % of total government spending on education in the US is 17.1%, far behind Cuba, Kenya and Vanauta (which I didn't even know was a country).

Go and paint your bloody toe nails!

We supplied Saddam with wmd in 1980 under the Reagan administration Saddam used wmd on the kurds and the Reagan white house looked the otherway and said nothing why because at the time we hated iran because they were holding americans hostage at the american embassy and iraq was in a boarder war with iran so Saddam was our allie same for Bin laden in 1980 the russians invaded afghaninstan and Bin -laden along with the afghaninstan army fought off the russians in a 10 year war we supplied Bin laden with weapons dont forget this was the height of the cold war SO ALL THIS CRAP COMING OUT OF THE BUSH WHITEHOUSE IS SPIN AND BULLSHIT THEY USE FEAR TO KEEP THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SCARED AND THEREFORE BEHIND THEM WAKE UP FOLKS HIGH FUEL AT THE PUMP, NO GOOD JOBS ETC LAYOFFS SCHOOL FUNDS CUT SOCIAL SECURITY A WAR WITH NO END IN SITE THIS PRESIDENT IS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN MY LIFETIME AND THATS SAYING SOMETHING WOW BUSH SUCKS
DEMOCRATS = ARE AGAINST PUNISHMENT PERIOD.
THEY ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR SOME EXCUSE TO BLAME OTHERS.

Just been reading RichFeet's post. I can understand his frustrations.
Bush invaded Iraq to land a second term, having promised the American people a 'war' on terror! Iraq was supposedly just an easy target that would be a quick win with few casualties - which it was pre-election. Now he has his own private Vietnam and few allies who (don't) want to be there. That said those that are there have no idea of an exit strategy, without leaving anarchy and genocide in their wake.
The problem with Bush and Blair is they like the idea of being the 'world’s police', provided they don't actually have to do anything.
It's believed that Bin Laden is in the mountains of Pakistan, but not only do we only have a few (in relative terms) soldiers over to find the worlds most wanted man, we are actually reducing the numbers. A move that takes some explaining.
I'll give you another thing to ponder about these two inept leaders. If the US and the UK are to be the 'world's police', why do we do nothing about Countries like North Korea, China, Zimbabwe, to name but 3, who's human rights abuses and subjugation of their own people are so appalling, but other than a few words, largely left unpunished.
Korea, has the bomb and a leader mad enough to use it at anywhere within range of its missiles. China again has the bomb and more ground troops than almost everyone else put together - so we won't antagonize them. Zimbabwe, well a field trip from a 7th grade class could over come most of Zimbabwe, so why we will not tackle a man who slaughters his own people is unfathomable!
How is it that we, as a voting public, put up with these men who cannot hold to promises or act as Statesmen of worthy and honour? RichFeet is right, the two party system in America reduces the voting system to who can win the polls in court as money and the influence of the 'special interest lobby groups' can buy you even the White House.
For the UK, it possibly even worse. Whist we have 3 parties by name, in real terms it is a one party system as the other two are not worth voting for. That said Labour is rapidly descending to levels of sleaze tat still afflicted the last Conservatives government.
The liberals are nothing more than bunch of people who want to tax anything that moves or consumes fuel. The Conservatives are still a group of anarchic elitists who are so busy with fighting themselves that they cannot possibly form a cohesive opposition to a Labour party that is rapidly imploding.
I've come into this a bit late.
There's a lot of understandable anger aimed at this guy and people seem to want to do all sorts of nasty things to him. I wold agree that he does seem a particularly unpleasant character.
However, one thing bothers me. A quote from a journalist who was sitting through the trail went something like this "It seems that there was no evidence that he had much to do with the 9/11 bombings at all". This would appear to be the reason he didn't get the death penalty.
If this is the case, how come he was given life imprisonment with no possibility of release which is an extremely severe punishment.
