You are an Aussie, correct? Have you ever lived in the US? And I don't mean a visit. If so, have you worked in the US? The government taxes the Christ out of you and it goes to welfare or foreign aid or what ever. ðŸ˜
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't an extremely large chunk of your budget go to 'defence' ie. The War in Iraq?

1. There are causalities that are unavoidable no matter how sad it is.
2. The Vietnam war began when Vietnam split into two "different" nations. The northern part was hell bent on making the southern part communists. If that isn't a civil war, then the US civil war wasn't a civil war nor was the french civil war. As for the Americans being there, the ...[text shortened]... ider anybody's elses opinion of yourself over yours, than my friend, you have a problem.
2.The French were there. The US thought they could create a third party (which failed) and Ho Chi Min (who wasn't a communist) fought the US and won.
3. Yes. Pol Pot was a nutter. Supported by the US (and British special forces actually trained his men along the Thai border). Once the Vietnamese army liberated the poor souls from the Pol Pot regime, the US vetoed each UN attempt at getting food and money into the country to help the people.
The US bombing of Cambodia goes back to the Vietnam war, when they decided that Laos and Cambodia were both hiding places for "Commie slanty eyes". Read Kissinger's papers on it. You can find them online.
4. I have no idea what you're rambling on about here.

e.g. = for example
Try e.g. next time. And there is a difference.
That is nothing compared to what we spend on technology and our defensive capabilities are unbelievable. It took the US around 8 hours to shut off both borders and secure all three coasts.

id est (i.e.): "That is (to say)", "in other words", or sometimes "in this case", depending on the context. Never equivalent to exempli gratia (e.g.).
Perhaps in future you should know what you are talking about before attempting to correct someone (especially me). Also 'for instance' and 'for example' mean the same thing so even by your definition I wouldn't be wrong.
All that defensive capability and you couldn't stop a bunch of guys taking over a bunch of planes using boxcutters?

In real terms, as far as I can tell (and that's quite hard, considering the way everything seems entwined) about 20% of US tax dollars goes towards "Defence" in some or other fashion.

I reckon if the US spent 1/4 of that money on education, there would be less fear of all these horrible terrorist / commie states out there and if they spent another 1/2 of that budget helping build up countries like Palestine and Afghanistan, there would be a lot less bad-will towards the US.
And with that 1/4 they have left they can still have the largest army in the world.

2. The French should have been able to control their crap. They want to be a world power than fu****g do it. Those smelly frog eating cowards.
3. You know what, why should the US help anyone? ANSWER THAT!!! In fact, what the US should do is close all borders down, remove all troops, and let the world fall. We produce 70% of the world's food supply. Think about it. Let the rest of the world starve. Let them. And when you come crawling begging for food, die.
4. Read it again and go back if you must. Now I'm drunk and really pissed right now and if you were here I'd beat you senseless but your not so that's a good thing.

Let's see:
- Support for the oppressive regime in Palestine
- Support for the oppressive regime of the Saudi royal family
- Covert operations in God knows how many countries
- Economic sanctions against God knows how many countries
- Weapon deals with God knows how many countries
Unprovoked my sore and aching bloody arse.
2. If you've never tasted frog legs in garlic butter, don't critisise it.
3. I think a majority of the world would love America to crawl into its shell and never again venture forth. Especially South and Central America. Oh, and Palestine. And Syria. And Iran. And probably most of Europe...
"Abundance, not scarcity, best describes the world's food supply," said a 1998 paper entitled "12 Myths About Hunger," published by the Institute for Food and Development Policy/Food First, a U.S.-based non-governmental organisation. "Even most 'hungry countries' have enough food for all their people right now. Many are net exporters of food and other agricultural products."

It is called freedom of religion. I never stated that I was a Christian, did I? If you are a good person and don't do stupid crap like killing and raping. Now if there is a heaven and a hell, which I believe in neither, then oh well I guess I'm screwed.
