It's closed now, or I'd of responded to get it on top of the board. I'm thinking the admonition that "moderate" flaming was OK may be the reason.
An example might be "I'm tired of bullies always picking on users who just want to have some fun in the forums"

There is no exact point to define where that line is drawn, but for the most part removed posts are seldom put back.
Best is to not agree with a point you make, and say so. When I start calling you names because I don't agree is when moderation might happen.

But it's the same indefinable line that gets in the way a lot of the time. People can't seem to even remotely agree on where the line is, and there are dynamics on both ends that won't change. And when a post actually does get modded, it causes large week-long arguments that make the forum even more dull to people who usually just read them (like myself), since nobody wants to go through 20+ pages of stuff to see what the argument's even about.
There's hardly any room for general banter anymore. It's all taken up by rephrased arguments and metaphors.
Arguments with a purpose aren't nearly as fun as arguing for argument's sake.

I find it interesting that RHP is about the only place on the net where users are allowed to question the decisions of the moderators. Most places would just remove the thread and ban the user for not 'toeing the line'.
There is also a line here that needs to be decided by alerts, mods, and admins. That might happen when a topic is overtaking the forums and the mods did what they did and admins don't reverse it.
A lot of users will flock to these threads to state their case on either side, it's important to them to voice their opinion.
If you want, as I often do I'll just start a thread I feel is interesting and hope to draw users to that thread rather than continuing the circular argument of another thread that has no reasonable answer to satisfy everyone.
In other words, if you don't like those threads make a thread or find a thread worth getting into. Many users who enjoy the thread will post there and we can stay away from the threads were not enjoying.
Alert the thread you don't enjoy, and say why. Good enough reasons will often get the eye of a mod.
