This thread is making me wonder how people who have never seen at all dream?! Do they just dream in sound??? When I rub my eyes I can see all sorts of strange colors... I guess rubbing their eyes wont work... but do they just have BLACK ...[text shortened]... What does nothing look like?!

This thread is confusing.... or could be just my post.

i know exactly what you mean mate,
how can u be blind and see nothing ,
what is nothing?
how can you see it?

another one that gets me thinking is:
im reading this book on astronomy, and they say the universe has no begining or end, it ahs simply always been there, other words it never started its always been here.
we has humans have always relied on time, it has become a natural habbit, for us to know start and finish ect. try to think about it that the universe had no begining. . .. . .
its mind boggoling, cause as i've said basically there is always a begining and a end, we have religions and beliefes to the reasons why we are here on earth and that god is the creater of the universe,
to cover the fact that it is hard to understand the universe, maybe there is no god maybe there is, maybe when you die. . .u die, and u dont go to some place of well being or heaven so to say? or maybe you do?
who knows?
we dont!
its hard to comprehend this diverse, dynamic universe?
any thoughts?

we may never know what nothing looks like because the blind people have never seen colors so they canot tell us what color it is unless somone who was not born blind but went blind somehow could tell us what nothing looks like. also the only reason you see colors when you rub your eyes is because you are seeing the opposite colors of what you where looking at before my art teacher says that if you stare at a color long enough and look at something black or white you will see the opposite color ex: red is the opposite of green therefore a blind person would not have seen red or green so they could not rub their eyes to see the opposite colors

now read this question carefully, then try and answer it
the most convincing answer i came up was unfortunatly when i was not sober,

Q: How does one explain colour to a blind person?

i know its really hard but i wanna see who has the best answer to it!!![/b]
i think i have the answer
what if a non blind person didn't know what lime green looked like
think of how you would explain that to them
it looks kinda light green
okay now how would you explain that to a blind person
you would have to explain it in a sense that they can use like their sense of smell, touch, taste, sound
then you rule out touch because a color can be brittle, soft or whatever
then you rule out smell because a color can smell good or bad
then you rule out taste because a color can taste sweet, sour etc.
then you rule out sound because you can't hear a color
so it is possibly impossible unless you tell them color's are lik feelings when you feel mad you may think of red as what danger mouse said but i think it quite impossible

What I think must be even more frustrating is someone who loses their sight in an accident.

Just think you've lived all your life seeing fine, them one day BAM!
Nothing....

Brrrr, that scares me.

it is the material that has long parallel lines. Pants made out of this go 'zip zip zip' as you walk.

People who have been blind for life find colour meaningless, and if colour adds meaning it's important, but otherwise it's simply aesthetic and not practical. You can get a computer program that puts colour into tactile graphics, images that blind people can 'read' by touch.

There are several ways of translating images for blind people in the same way writing is translated into braille.. One is to use raised lines and dashes to represent a picture. Using fingers, visually impaired or blind people can get a feel for the details of images.

Hope this is of some help !!

i got the right answer i saw this in a book once with loads of question like that like if a tree fall and know ones around does it make a noise sort of thing and the answer to your question is

NO! you can teach a blind man what a colour looks like coz scientists rekon that they arnt really blind they are just so colour blind that they cant see any colour therefore even if they could see a bit they still couldn't tell you what a colour is

One doesn't.

To explain the concept of colour to someone who has never SEEN a colour, would be the same as a dog trying to explain scent to us. We may think we can grasp it. We may even convince ourselves that we understand what a dog is capable of experiencing through their nose... but in reality, all we'd ever be able to do is guess.
