This gets my rec because it's close to the truth. Close, but not quite close enough.

Only someone who has actually gone through such a loss can imagine what it's like.

No, you can't say, "I can imagine..." because you can't. I've had friends who lost a child, and I'd said the same. Oh, how wrong I was. It wasn't until I lost my own daughter that I realised the truth.

You can't image what it's like unless you've been through it. You can't imagine the devastation.

Mike ... Its obvious there's still a lot of grief for you to deal with, but it is a chess forum, and likely you have made many aquaintances on this site, but should it matter so much that you didn't have a welcome back thread made up for you? or you weren't sent pm's to welcome you back? just playing the games and chatting with the players you used to chat to before this trauma affected your lives surely would have told you enough .... Have to go with Starrman on this one as there are many people on here who aren't their true selves and that's entirely up to them, but this is also an open forum and if you didn't want anybody to post what you call unsympathetic responses, then why not send private messages to all those you thought cared enough but didn't welcome you back.

I have retracted my original post in this thread, and given you a rec. I don't know if someone is making something up, and they did ask for the kind of treatment they are now getting after insulting all the users of these forums.

I personally would never make a thread in this forum to try and get sympathy for something tragic that happened to me, and was a fool for originally posting in this thread on page one.

I blanked it out before the time expired, and alerted it as blank post.

Give it a try.

-M,

You can always start again, but you have to carry your own baggage. True, friends can help, but the weight lies on your own shoulders.

My bit of advice: don't worry about your rating; go and give your wife a hug and a kiss before every move. Some things are more important than chess (to some people).

Wish I had....... an hour ago!.. 🙁 If I knew I could!

Then I wouldn't have been so disbelieved by heartless bastards!, them being the ones who are so inexperienced in life that they think a thread is for taking the piss out of.

May be I should have put "has he or hasn't he" in the debates forum......

The loss of a child is not 'BAGGAGE'!!!!

It is experience, surely?

I am proud my wife was pregnant........ not that she lost anything but gained now from experience, loss of love and gain of love?

But mentally is this considered that I NOW have baggage?

Fk that for a lark! We work in life together. We shall stand apart like the pillars of our temple!

It's not "BAGGAGE" to lose a child.

The baggage is the experience, the memory, the thoughts and feelings and emotions which weigh so heavily upon the "victim" of such an event.
