Only thing I know about that guy is that he supposedly gave permission to Wierd Al to do "Amish Paradise" and then went back on his word and got upset. I like Wierd Al, so I dislike Coolio.

Exactly. Coolio said it was OK, then chimped out and started making veiled threats, so Yankovic gave him the entire proceeds of his parody.
So typical. Most artists are flattered and laugh when Weird Al does them, it means they have "arrived". But coolio goes all gangsta and cries for some money.
I think he's broke now anyway. Again, so typical.

weird al asked coolio for the permission to cover a stevie wonder song???

man that guy is weird.

and EV, if you liked gangsta's paradise, maybe you should check out stevie wonder's album songs in the key of life from where coolio covered the "pastime paradise". it's a huge classic. when I bought it, I counted 4 different covers from it being on the Mtv daily rotation at that time. and it was about 20 years after the album was released!

here's the original pastime paradise, the video is irrelevant though:

he came to my studnts union when i was an ickle first year. he was better than javine (3 people turned up, who all boo-ed), but i've a friend who he tried to pretend to have anal sex with on stage. the most enbarassing night of her life, apparently. he was awful. a bit of a looser, has-been, methinks...

coolio was 12 years old when Wonder's magnum opus "Songs In the Key Of Life" came out.

What did he have to do with it, besides ripping it off?
