Aye, nowt better than a stroll doon the toon.. be asked for a tab by a scummy chav then get twatted for not havin aught.

But seriously, the sea front at Tyne Mouth is beautiful day or night, the millennium bridge and the Sage behind it is just magnificent and Jesmond Dene is but a lost forest in the heart of city.

Its fab.

I didn't really expect it to be ugly. 🙂 I haven't been to Kuopio, but what I have seen of Finland was quite nice.

The sentence rhythm of the line above is wonderful.

Of the places I've been, Rome gets my vote.

Teehee. Actually it was recommended to me by someone who had lived there for a while, and I almost went there, but I ended up spending two days in Hämeenlinna instead.

Raisk, try it someday. I never visited Hämeenlinna, just on my way to Lappeenranta 😛

Not when you are on a sailing boat. 🙂 And some of the ports were also really nice places. So I have to disagree with your assessment. The only Dutch city I have been to is Rotterdam, and that's really ugly, thanks to "us" (the Germans).
Don't worry, the British and Americans were well at bombing too. At least in Den Haag and Nijmegen.

I really really think Brugge in Belgium is worth a visit. If one really really thinks one should visit the Netherlands, go to Delft and Leiden and, impossible to skip, Amsterdam. The latter being the only city in the world with a touristical red light district; whole families without any shame strawling along on the streets of this sightseeing event like it is a Disney land park.

What does "raisk" mean (and what language is it)?

I ended up in Hämeenlinna because I had read in a tourist guide that they have an exhibition of exotic animals, including snakes. 🙂 It was nothing spectacular, but nice anyway. I have a picture from that visit on my homepage: http://home.online.no/~khgott/Slangeside.html

I have to add, that the west of Ireland is probably the most beautiful countryside I have ever been in, but be warned, the reason it is so green is that it probably rains more that any other place on earth!

Croatia...the Adriatic coast at Opatija....crystal clear water, but cold. Pebble beaches for the most part, a few sandy ones...no waves, so forget about surfing. Mild summers...not too hot, but just right. Some of the Slavic girls don't shave their legs, but that's not important; what is important is what awaits you between them...and a LOT more hair..... 😀...if you look at my smiley face closely, you may see a 'curly-Q' stuck between my teeth.....😉
