That is probably the most stupid thing you have every posted, which is quite a statement, considering.

(Why am I 'a human toilet tissue'? Your ridiculous nationalism convinces you that JD is better than the finest Scotch or the finest Irish whiskey? If you believe that, and apply it as a generqal principle in life, then you're the one looking foolish and missing out on some of the most exquisite pleasures in this world. Sorry- I doubt I'll ever be able to take you seriously after that.)

I know lots of people who prefer bourbon to scotch or irish whisky. Not me though...

But noone even calls bourbon whiskey... it's a different thing, and vastly inferior as a product. It's like comparing grape juice fermented under a radiator to the best Ribera del Duero wine.

Don't worry, I'm American and I don't take chacre seriously. Ignore him and with a little luck he'll go away (doubtful as he just made an amazing 7 posts in a row w/o anyone responding to him).

I feel the need to point something out... 'beer' is not Bud or Corona or Stella or Molson... they're all lagers.
Guinness, Murphys, Beamish and Caffreys are all stout.

'Beer' is ale. It is served in pint glasses with an inch of froth on top... and the best one is called Magnet.

End of conversation...

You're right, it's a different thing altogether, Bourbon's usually made using maize. Most of the flavour and character of Bourbon comes from ageing the spirit in heavily charred new American oak barrels. The Americans also produce what's called "Tenessee whiskey", it's produced in a similar way to Bourbon, but it's filtered through maple wood charcoal before it's bottled. It's meant to be smoother and sweeter than Bourbon, I've not had any...

Just like Spanish brandy is not the same thing as Cognac 😏

Best beer for me is Guinness, but I also like Budweiser because it's light and a nice outdoor drink in the summer and Hoegaarden.

Thank goodness for someone who actually know what they are talking about.

Cheers. 😉

I believe ale, stout and lager are types of beer. Beer is a general term used to describe a drink that's made from fermented malted barley, hops etc... Stout is a dark beer made with roasted barley, malt... which is different to the way lager is made for instance, but it is a beer all the same , albeit a superior kind IMHO 😵

Obviously it's made different but who's to say it's inferior to scotch or irish whiskey, like little sjeg says? I've tasted some horrendous Scotches and some great Bourbons. I've also tasted some great Scotches and some harsh Bourbons It's all a matter of taste.

And we do call Bourbon "whiskey" as well because that's what it is, just like we have rye whiskey in Canada.

Sjeg, you're a muppet.

I can neither confirm or deny your claim as I don't have a dictionary in front of me!

Anyway, how can you comment on beer - your French, you only drink vin!!!

Whether it's inferior or not shouldn't be an issue, as it should not be classed as whiskey.

In Ireland, where whiskey originates, mind, we've been at making it for a while, you know.

You need pure water, barley, and a bloody expert distiller.

If you make a drink with maize, add Godknowswhat to it, sweeten it up and sell it to the masses who pour Cocacola on top of it, at least have the decency to call it something else, which it clearly is, both for ingredients and for method of distillation.

And as a product, if you really want to compare it to a proper whiskey, then do a blind taste test. If you knew real Irish or Scotch, you wouldn't be having this problem (no offense).
