I feel the need to point something out... 'beer' is not Bud or Corona or Stella or Molson... they're all lagers.
Guinness, Murphys, Beamish and Caffreys are all stout.
'Beer' is ale. It is served in pint glasses with an inch of froth on top... and the best one is called Magnet.
End of conversation...

You're obviously a northerner (Manc and Lancs)... where's the Brisbane Road link?
I started watching Cricket here so I follow Lancs over Essex who would be my natural team down south. I'm not sure, but I think I must be the only Orient & Lancashire fan in the world!

Originally posted by darvlayYou know, the best part of the time I lived in tennessee was the superb corn mash whiskey that many of the rednecks and hillbillies used to brew. aka: moonshine. 20 bucks for a 2-litre bottle of the stuff! It was some powerful stuff, but smooth as anything else I have ever tried. Those hillbillies knew their craft... You wouldn't want to light a cigarette around it though!
Obviously it's made different but who's to say it's inferior to scotch or irish whiskey, like little sjeg says? I've tasted some horrendous Scotches and some great Bourbons. I've also tasted some great Scotches and some harsh Bourbons It's all a matter of taste.
And we do call Bourbon "whiskey" as well because that's what it is, just like we have rye whiskey in Canada.
Sjeg, you're a muppet.
