Venezuela's leader Hugo Chavez has called US President George W Bush "the devil" in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
"The devil came here yesterday," he said, referring to Mr Bush's speech on Tuesday. "It still smells of sulphur today," he added.
US State Department spokesman Tom Casey said it was disappointing to see a head of state speak in such a way.
Mr Chavez went on to criticise the UN system, which he said was "worthless".

Although I disagree with his characterization, Chavez is right in his assessment that we should move the United Nations to another country. Then all of that valuable New York real estate could be turned into something more practical -- like a delicatessen or a dry cleaners.

The veto system needs to be revised, requiring multiple vetoes to block a resolution.
What does "Speak in such a way" mean?

We see nothing of the hundreds of thousands of people marching in support of Chavez in the mass media.

He has plenty of reasons to feel anti-american and so its disingenious to say he's just riding the anti-american sentiment. That's like saying that countries who spoke out against Hitler, were only doing so for there own personal gain. There is anti-american sentiment for a reason in these countries. Now, if you choose to watch FOX all day, then that's up to you.
I was on the Bolivian border in 2003, when the u.s. backed president killed hundreds of his people, because he was a party to the u.s.' plan to practically steal billions of dollars of gas from the Bolivian people. Please read about these actions, which would also be happening in Venezuela if america got it's way and installed a puppet government there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolivian_Gas_War
Another example of the u.s. trying to exploit the poor of south america is this occurance in Cochabamba (Just read the first paragraph to get an idea) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochabamba_protests_of_2000
As far as I'm concerned, EVERY politician is self serving. Now, whether that particular politician serves himself by alligning him with corporations, weapons producers and polluters who only wish to rape the country, or the people themselves is what is at issue.
Remember, Chavez isn't addressing somebody in Canada, his comments are for the people of Venezuela, a highly religious country, populated with people who have first hand experience of the actions of GWB. W often uses the God card to rally the huge support of the millions of so called Christians in America. Why can't Chavez do pretty much the same?

We don't get FOX News in Canada.

Thanks darv, I knew I could count on a demotivated Canadian to be a prime recipient of a history lesson and some first hand knowledge instead of the propoganda we're assaulted with on a daily basis.
Rock on, little buddy.

Seriously though, sorry for the sarcasm. I do appreciate your opinion and your experience.
Cheers.
