Seriously though, sorry for the sarcasm. I do appreciate your opinion and your experience.

Cheers.
I appreciate your ability to make 3 word sentences entertaining, Short Round.

Do you have any knowledge on the situation in Venezuela? The u.s. backed a failed coup in 2002. They have an embargo on Venezuela currently. Western Media, mostly american based, are engaged in a war of propoganda, whereby they show violent anti-Chavez demonstrations constantly, even if these demos involve only a handful of people. We see nothing of the ions of so called Christians in America. Why can't Chavez do pretty much the same?

Are we talking about the same Chavez that has said he's thinking about a referendum that is intended to change the constitution so that he can have more terms than those allowed by the current one?

Very democratic. If it wasn't attacking the foundations of democracy.

Bush IS the devil. We need more people like Mr. Chavez who are willing to call a spade a spade.

I noticed that when he was saying this he was genoflexing and then folding his hands in prayer and looking up. Why isn't my atheistic brotha calling this one a spade?

Since when did the devil start to exist for you?

By changing the constitution in his personal favour at a time when the opposition has been boycotting referendums.

You mean by proposing a referendum to change the constitution. How is getting the people to decide if they want to change their constitution "attacking the foundations of democracy"?

Remember that international observers have signed off on the previous elections as being fair.

Just because democracy relies on votes, doesn't mean it's democratic to have a vote on everything. Especially when the opposition is in boycott. This is not the time for such a change, and it is a clear signal that he values himself more than the ideas or the party he supposedly represents.

His use of government funds for campaigning purposes are also evidence of his clear undemocratic stance, accompanied by the constant accusations that his opponents are just puppets the US.

Also, the electoral council (which is 4 to 1 pro-Chavez) has refused to count paper ballots as a check to the fingerprint machines that the opposition is suspicious of, and has rejected an independent audit of the electoral register.

Do you even have an idea of why there are mandate limits?

Is Chavez trying to do the president-for-life number? Bad news when a leader comes to regard himself as indispensable.
