@ghost-of-a-duke saidBest of Wisconsin luck to you - It's America's Dairyland don't you know 🙂
Of course. One has a title to defend.
@earl-of-trumps saidWhat the F? You were preceded by your reputation as a right-wing extremist who extols Trumpism and insults Democrats.
Limited Onwership Rights to a thread is a valid idea for discussion. You don't like it so you think everyone should not like it. And you blasted the thread into oblivion by discussing ME!!!
What the F, man, the idea is not a bout ME.
@handyandy saidWell Andy,
What the F? You were preceded by your reputation as a right-wing extremist who extols Trumpism and insults Democrats.
Everyone has their bad points even you and I! 🙂

@earl-of-trumps saidYou can call me whatever names you like. And that's basically what you chose to do, instead of addressing my posts. I oppose anyone being given the "right" to censor other posters' posts, least of all a poster with your demeanor and temperament. You can call me "small minded" to your heart's content. But it won't make your case any stronger.
I can clearly see that you are one of those small minds that poster "they" displayed in his thread idea, whose wont is to talk about other people.

@FMF
You started a thread talking about how posters like you...
Right off the trucking BAT, you lie. Show me where I ever said the proposed abilities were for posters like me.... Jeeeezxus, I can't stand communicating with liars, it seems all I do is correct their lies.
------------------------- I'm out. this shoot sucks.
...should have the power to delete or curtail other posters' contributions. You even started fulminating about how you wish you were personally able to delete posts you didn't like on that thread. You are who are, and who you are is bound to come under scrutiny if you start openly aspiring to be able to delete other people's posts.
@earl-of-trumps saidIf you get your way and posters are given the right to delete posts they don't like, then posters like you are going to be given that right too. I am not a "liar" and I am not "lying"; you are only saying stuff like this to deflect.

You spend a lot of time deflecting on the Debates Forum by accusing people of being "liars" and "lying" when they are not. People like you should not be given the right to delete other people's posts under any circumstances. Indeed, no poster should, but especially people like you.
@earl-of-trumps saidStill, I'm saying that all three, Ideas, Events and People are interesting. Yes, some people think other people don't deserve their interest because they have an inflated sense of themselves. Truth be known, everyone (not just the Elites) thinks Ideas are interesting, everyone thinks Events are interesting, and everyone (not just the so-called "little minds" ) thinks People are interesting. I think separating these out by what one person thinks is "righteously" interesting is just more narcissism. Yes, it's just trying to tell people what to think. Good luck with that.
Suzie, journalists tend to discuss that which sells and People Magazine is not the only guilty party.
Look at the utter crap on TV today and the people absolutely PINNED to the telly watching Oprah Winfrey's expose of the Royals. Are you kidding me???
Other stations covered the Golden Globes and Emmy's or some such people glorifying event. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeezus.
Su ...[text shortened]... a TV show on discussing the discovery of Dark Matter and Gray Matter, the Network would lose money.
Why do certain topics sell? Because they are interesting. People want to hear about them, and deriding people by what they think is interesting is just a non-starter and elitist.
@earl-of-trumps saidThere is nothing wrong with talking about people. People are interesting. Every person has a story, and they're all different. How can that not be interesting?
You talk like I'll have ownership rights to evert friggin' thread!! everybody would have the same option, it is an idea that is already used in FaceBook and others.

@they saidAnother pearl of wisdom from our longest serving First Lady. Actually, great minds can discuss all three while weak minds watch them on TV.
Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.
This has been attributed to both Charles Stewart and Eleanor Roosevelt.
Does it ring true?
I post it here in context of course. It seems like there is opportunity here to occasionally share ideas and even big ideas. But often it feels like there is no air left in the room to share an i ...[text shortened]... ken by the constant movement of every thread after five posts to "let's make this about me instead".

@handyandy saidWell, all of that is nice but what the F does all that have to do with the thread theme?
What the F? You were preceded by your reputation as a right-wing extremist who extols Trumpism and insults Democrats.
If you can't separate, then go play in the sandbox. jeeezus.
PS: Andy, you come with the reputation of being a radical left wing DEMOCRAT. I can separate and discuss issues with you.
