He should be out playing for someone in the championship, probably be Ireland’s first choice.
Should be Ireland's first choice anyway. Lots of international keepers have kept the bench warm along the way. The early 'tackle' he made with his hand to stop a certain goal was pure Alisson. You don't learn that training with a Championship squad.

True but he’s at an age now when he needs to be playing. Good there wasn’t much he could do about either goal, thought he did well. Did he play in the league cup? If he was guaranteed both cups it might be worth staying another year but he needs to play.

Hero of the penalty shoot out in the quarter final. Two excellent saves.

Blatant red card.

To be fair to Mr Red, the author of 'didn't see it' was Arsene. A Southern manager.

Pep will be happy

Shearer said blatant red card, but Neville said it wasn't.
Therefore not clear and obvious.
Therefore VAR follows the laws of the game and doesn't overrule the ref.

From the ref's perspective he sees a player with eyes fixed on a high ball jump with his arms out in a natural position for the jump. No thrust of the arm towards the player so he will give yellow on seeing that.

All within the laws of the game.

Not that it was relevant to the decision, but if I had to jump for a ball against Azpiliceuta I would make sure my arms were out. 😁

The pundits that I saw on MOTD both said blatant red.
Don't know which Neville you are quoting, presumably Gary on Sky Sports?

Thought Henderson's comment on MOTD that he was disappointed it got even a yellow was a disgrace.

Red card , blatant as you will ever see

If Gary Neville says it wasn't a red card then it wasn't a red card. Got it? Good.

If reputable pundits hold conflicting views then it isn't clear and obvious and VAR is right not to change it. Gary Neville is no Liverpool fan.
