@blood-on-the-tracks saidI'd love to trade blows by dishing the dirt on a Forest player of the same era, but frankly I just don't know any. 🤷♂️
@Relentless-Red
Thanks for bringing us back to the 'real world '. You quite sure only 3 'pundits' passed opinion on the red card? Don't have Sky myself, but was Neville the only 'pundit' on there for that game? Must be other outlets too.
As for 'Carra', yep, lovable scouser. Unbiased. Prone to spit at other fans who dare to taunt him about Liverpool losses despite that lack of bias. Nice.
-Removed-Do you know any fans who don't think that? More seriously I'd rather be a fan.
It's funny watching ex-players making the transition into pundits. Some manage better than others. To demonstrate some nonpartisan credentials I actually think Gary Neville is one of the best if not the best (which I've said elsewhere before the incident discussed in this thread). He's very objective. Carra seemed to overcompensate at first as if desperate to demonstrate objectivity where it seems to come naturally to Neville.
Lineker has all the cheesy presenter stuff off to a fine art, but when push comes to shove you can tell he is a blue (more recently hidden by his Leicester focus).
@trev33 saidI think they're definitely teaching Carra to talk slower. Funnily enough though I used to work with this guy from just outside Belfast who spoke faster. I think a lot of people from the north speak even faster again?? Carra is strongly Bootle though, you'd find Trent easier to understand. 😉
I didn’t know Linekar was a Chelsea fan? He’s not a pundit though, great presenter though, worse pundit of the lot is Jenas, rubbish presenter as well. Carra would be better if you could understand more than 50% of what he’s saying 😉
Edit: the blue I was referring to re Lineker being Evertonian.
@relentless-red saidCountry folk around Cork or Tipp have to take the talking fast and not being able to understand s word they’re saying award. I don’t find Carra that fast but his accent is brutal, you know the way they put subtitles when an African or Indian person is speaking English sometimes? Need the same with Carra 😁

But yeah, we generally talk quite fast in NI, expect for people from the countryside who speak really slowly because they’re too stupid to talk fast, little brains don’t work that quickly 😂
Lineker is from Liverpool?
@trev33 saidNo, I think Lineker is probably from Leicester. He played for Everton though. Showing my age.

@relentless-red saidHe had always been Bias towards Spurs and Leicester hadn’t noticed Everton but didn’t know he used to play for them.

@trev33 saidListen carefully on derby day. Excuse the copy and paste from wiki below, but it tells you what you need to know. They put a positive spin on it, but basically he was part of the team that didn't go on to bigger things after Everton won the league in the 80s.
He had always been Bias towards Spurs and Leicester hadn’t noticed Everton but didn’t know he used to play for them.
In the 1985 close season, defending league champions Everton signed Lineker for £800,000; he scored 40 goals in 57 games for his new team in the 1985–86 season. Lineker's first game for Everton happened to be away to Leicester City; at half time, he walked into the Leicester dressing room by mistake. He was again the First Division's leading goal scorer, this time with 30 goals (including three hat-tricks), and helped Everton finish second in the league. While at Everton, they reached the FA Cup final for the third consecutive year but lost 3–1 to Liverpool, despite Lineker giving them an early lead when he outpaced Alan Hansen to score. Liverpool had also pipped Everton to the title by just two points. "I was only on Merseyside a short time, nine or 10 months in total really, but it was still a happy time personally, while professionally it was one of the most successful periods of my career", he says. "I still have an affinity towards Everton."
