@fmf saidMy default setting is to take on trust when I'm told somebody has died, and to offer my commiserations. Dive's 'prank' tarnishes this trust and clearly has led some to being less willing to extend such trust going forward.
So why are you talking about it? What does your disapproval of a prank over a year ago justify here on this thread about our families at Christmas time?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidI think divegeester's prank was fine. What do you think of Very Rusty's posting on this thread?

For a day or two there were a few regulars who genuinely thought you might have died. (Myself included).
@fmf saidTime I stepped in and said something, have seen everything said.

His prank was not well timed if that is what you still want to call it. As Ghost said better than I did, how is anyone to believe what either of you say when it comes to someone dying? I still don't know if it is actually true or not. I'll NOT fully believe anything you or Gooster say ever again. Ghost prefers to give people the benefit of doubt as does my better half. Personally I catch you in a lie, it takes a long time to earn my trust back if EVER! Red thumbs never stop me from telling it as I see it.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidWell said.
Look, let's be clear about this. Dive's 'prank' (as he calls it) certainly ended in a ludicrous and clearly jokey fashion, saying Russ was flying out to your funeral etc, but it certainly didn't start out that way. Dive said in one early post that we knew nothing of the Covid situation in Indonesia and spoke about you in a past tense, saying you wouldn't have liked hi ...[text shortened]... s plausible and that Dive's 'prank' was seriously mistimed (due to the pandemic) and in poor taste..
@fmf saidThis is arguably the worst post you have ever made and I'll probably respond to it 5 times if that's okay.
As pranks go, I thought it was fine. Not poorly timed, no ~ well-timed in fact. And not creepy. No. Not nearly as creepy as Very Rusty has been on this thread, for sure.
During a pandemic, Dive effectively kills you off referencing Covid in Indonesia and leading myself and others to genuinely think you might be dead. - And you think that was a good prank? And that it wasn't poorly timed?.... Seriously?
If anyone other than Dive had carried out such a prank you would be front of the queue calling it twisted, rather than jumping into the hole with both feet.
@fmf saidWhy have you linked to a follow up thread? Where is the original thread where Dive links your death to Covid in Indonesia and presents your demise straight-faced?
Thread 190666
@ghost-of-a-duke saidYes, I thought it was fine. Nobody fell for it. Ponderable immediately pointed out he was chatting with me in a game of chess it was a harmless prank. No one said anything about me as if they believed I had passed away. Are you sure this is not related to my father-in-law's passing?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidYou tell me? You're the one who's trying so desperately to justify Very Rusty's posting.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidIt was well-timed because I was on a long break from posting and yet I was still obviously still here playing chess and chatting with people.
How was the prank well timed, bearing in mind it was in the middle of a pandemic?!
