This whole BCS setup is horrible. Bowl games are great, but they do nothing to determine the champion on the field. It will never happen as you have human pollsters and computers determing which team is better, but the 1-AA (FCS) schools have it right. They have a 16 team playoff to determine their champioship on the field. Until there is some sort of playoff system in place, the debates will continue. That's what all the suits really want anyway....TALK.

As far as the current system, it should be Florida and OU (if they beat Mizzou) or USC playing for the Byou can leave out the CS Championship.

Things have a chance of changing sometime in the near future. Many are realizing that something needs to be done. Especially now this year, when 4 teams have a viable argument to say they are the best. It can't stay this way for much longer.

The school officials can do what they want. They don't care about what others want.

As for the game tonight, I look at it as a win-win.

We win-> that's great, I'm happy tonight

We lose-> I won't have to watch OU get smoked in the MNC game. I'm not saying Florida is better, I'm saying OU has been very disappointing in bowls. If we are going to get smoked, it would be better if it wasn't in a BCS bowl.

Now you are really sounding like a simpleton. It is quite easy to get a playoff system.....just get the government involved. They are getting involved in baseball, football, and basketball at the pro level. Collegiate sports is next. The university presidents will be powerless, unless they no longer require federal subsidies, grants, and tax relief. It is coming, but that is probably the only way.

Ok, here are my picks for the upcoming bowls.

Florida over (whoever)(who cares) in the NCG.

USC over the little ten school Penn State and beating them by at least 30 points.

I sure hate the BCS!! Yawn, wake me when its over.....

The government is not going to get involved in the NCAA and college football.

By the way, I believe this makes OU's third consecutive Big XII championship. That makes a total of 6 out of a possible 13 years.

2000
2002
2004
2006
2007
2008

I believe Bob Stoops has been at OU since 1999, which would mean he's won the Big XII six out of 10 years. That's not bad, not bad at all. How many have Texas won?

Let's hope OU doesn't embarrass the Big 12 once again in a bowl game.

I guess they must play for conference championships in Norman. In Austin, if it isn't a national championship, it was a wasted effort.

I must say I'm a Gators fan, so I'm biased, that's why I've hesitated posting here. I do believe a playoff system should be devised. They used to just rely on the bowls along with whatever teams the AP used to throw at them. The BCS was supposed to be a fix for that... seems to have made it worse maybe. Either way, whatever team gets Alabama in the Sugarbowl(?) better be ready.

Go Gators 🙂

I think I saw the two best teams play yesterday in the Georgia Dome. A great game that went back and forth and was in doubt until the last few minutes. Alabama's offense was better than I thought and their running game will be tough for Utah to handle. If it winds up Ohio State playing them, expect another Big Ten embarrassment.

Oklahoma did what it had to do against a defense that couldn't cover or tackle. I'll be very curious to see how mid level Big 12 teams like Mizzou and Oklahoma State do in the bowls.

Unless Florida gets hosed and left out of the Championship game, I expect them to beat Oklahoma. If the Fiesta goes for the best game and picks Utah, I think Texas will have its hand full. If they go for the high profile program and pick Ohio State, it will probably be ugly.

If it isn't a national title then it is a wasted effort? Texas fans must be ready to blow their heads off. I know Texas fans aren't, but that's because your comment was only an attempt to save face. If Texas could have finished the season, two of those titles would belong to Texas and not OU.

The Big XII won't be embarrassed due to one game. If teams like OSU, Texas and Tech all win their bowl games and OU loses, it will be written off as an OU thing.

Well, one thing is for sure. We will find out if all of these so called "horrible Big 12 defenses" are quite as bad as some have suggested. I believe it will come out that the offenses are just that prolific, and the defenses had their hands full. Many of the highly rated defenses have played no more than one or two high octane offenses. In the Big 12 they face a minimum of 4 and sometimes more.

Texas would kick Utah's ass. They would kick Ohio State's ass. I believe they would have beaten Alabama as well. The two teams that I thought would cause them the most problems were Florida and USC. Now we play neither of them.

Unfortuantely, any playoff system is going to take a while to come about. The current BCS system is in place through the 2014 season.

I watch the games; the tackling and coverage in the Big 12 is awful. We'll see what these "high octane" offenses do against good defenses in other BCS conferences.
