Only two things elicit this reaction....another prick or a puss. So which are you?? 😉
Good luck on your fantasies everyone.
Tech put a death nail into Texas' hopes for a Big XII championship by squeaking past Baylor. If OU loses to OSU, Tech wins the head to head with Texas. If OU beats OSU, OU will make up more than enough ground in the computer polls to pass Texas.
Having said that, Texas still has a shot at a MNC. It will either be Texas or OU against the winner of the Florida vs Alabama match up.
OU did its job tonight.
Shortcircuit,
If you watched the game and were paying attention you'd have noticed that OU lost its Middle Line backer again. After losing Box (to a cheap shot to the knee) Crow didn't see the field. They had a JUCO transfer ready to go. I really liked the way he played.
Now to see how many votes Mack can get in the Coaches' poll. He has alot of friends and has proven in the past to be able to pull a string or two.
OU or Texas? A tough call. It is a three way tie, so Texas Tech's win over the Longhorns can't be completely disregarded. Texas lost that one on the road, but did beat Oklahoma on a neutral field. Advantage: Texas.
However, OU has more advantages. They'd scored consecutive impressive wins over ranked teams (a #2 at the time included). They have out of conference victories over the Big East Champion and a a team in the BCS top 15.
I think OU gets it. A Missouri team with everything to gain and little to lose is a dangerous opponent next week, however. Mizzou didn't put much of an effort into their meaningless game with Kansas today and the Big 12 Championship game has a history of upsets.
whodey should be happy; Oregon State's loss virtually assures Ohio State of a BCS bid. If the favorites win next week in the SEC and Big 12 Championship Games, it might be Alabama-OSU in the Sugar Bowl or they might possibly go against the ACC winner in the Orange Bowl. The latter would be a lot more doable for the Buckeyes though not as prestigious.

Originally posted by whodeyI guess the Fiesta's a possibility as well; they'll have the first pick of at-large teams. I was thinking they'd prefer Utah (a regional, unbeaten team) to play Texas/Oklahoma/Missouri but OSU is a bigger name though their bowl record lately ain't much. Texas or Oklahoma v. Ohio State probably wouldn't be pretty.
😀😏😵🙂
EDIT: I'm assuming a USC win over UCLA next week. If the Trojans lose, Oregon goes to the Rose Bowl and USC takes the last remaining BCS spot instead of OSU.
Originally posted by shortcircuitOU has been ranked higher than Texas in the coaches poll, then goes into Stoolwater and beats OSU. If Texas jumps OU in the coaches poll or even gains ground on points, then something is wrong. It is purely politics and has nothing to do with football.
Texas beat OU so they damn sure shouldn't whine if Texas gets the nod. Ou will always have to explain that one away if they back in.
When Tech beat Texas, Texas lost all rights to claim a head to head. The head to head claim would have required a little help and Texas almost got it.
As far as backing in goes, that usually after you've lost. The team withthe most recent loss would be Texas. If OU would have lost last night, Texas would not even be in the picture. So OU's victory over OSU and victory over Tech (a team Texas wasn't able to defeat) is the only thing that allows Texas the chance to back into the Big XII championship game.
Your burnt orange glasses are mighty thick. But you've displayed this fact many times in this thread.

Ironically, if Oklahoma had lost last night, it would have just about assured Texas a berth in the BCS Championship Game without the bother of the Longhorns playing in the Big 12 Championship Game. That's the kind of results you get from the present system.
