How long did it take you to master 6th string root barre chords?

Is that a serious question?

Well, the open E chord is probably the first you should learn. Since the 6th string as you call it is an E if played open, all you have to do to learn root chords on the E string is look at that E shape and move it up the fret board, barring as you go. Barred on the first fret makes it an F, second F# etc. This should take you no more than a day or two to get your head around, and then a couple of weeks practice finger-wise to make sure you can do what you think, so to speak. I'd say that all major, minor and 7th chord shapes and positions can be mastered in a month or two depending on how much practice you put in.

You don't need to know barre chords.

All you need to do is get yourself a distortion pedal with a lot of gain and then only play diads. This is what all the true guitarists do. Next step = palm muting and then you'll be a legend.

You just completely killed the general forum with your old disgruntled musician rant. Happy now? Huh? Happy? I'm going to write a 3 chord song about this moment.

Just make sure you don't bar any of them 😛
