Seems like there are two fans on now. There was only one on earlier. The fan that was not running earlier is at the power supply unit. The heat was at the middle back area where the cooling fans is. So far in some eight years I have not had any computer troubles until a few months ago when my hard drive went out. Every Summer my computer does make it a bit hotter in here. There is a big difference in 113 F one day and 134 to 140 F the next morning.

My power supply fan runs often, but the other cooling fan seems to come on mostly when a chess engine or two is running--something pushing the CPU over 50% for extended periods of time. I doubt the power supply fan can help cool your hard drive, except to reduce the heat from the power supply itself.
