As a non-member (as you all know), I have to put up with banner ads. In itself, this doesn't really bother me. What concerns me is the content of these ads. It seems to be an apt reflection of the direction our society is heading. Here are some examples:

"How tall is Paris? Answer and get a free iPod!!!"

--I don't care how tall Paris is, frankly her mere existence means nothing to me.

"Who will Lindsay fight with next? Answer and get a free laptop!!"

--If the no talent hack wants to fight in bars with all the other white trash that poses as celebrity, then that is her business.

"What is Paris Hilton's dog's name? Answer to get a free PINK Razr!!"

--I refer you to the first ad. I don't care about her dog's existence either. They could both vanish off the face of the planet, and it wouldn't even register in my head. "Paris Hilton, and her friggin dog died today." You know what? I couldn't care less.

"Who is this Rapper?" Followed by a picture of said "artist".

--I don't even listen to rap, but the choices are so assenine that there is no way you are going to give me a computer for filling out your stupid survey.

"Watch Jessica struggle to get her famous chest inside her scuba suit!! At Zango.com"

---Uh, this is a joke right? You're advertising softcore porn on a chess site? Zango has similar ads like, "Watch Brittiney put on her makup in the a.m., in a see-through," or "Watch Shakira mishap on stage!! Luckily she wore panties that day!!!"

To sum up, would it be safe to say that since these ads are targeted towards morons and little girls with either no brains or waaay too much time on their hands, that these are the majority of the internet population? From what I have seen online, it seems this may not be far from the truth.

It speaks volumes for the state of our culture that things of such a base nature are even given a second thought. Sorry, just had to vent. As you were.

..no..you miss the point...i play on another chess site that has very
normal advertising...this site ( as many others ) has some infantile advertising...that is because there is an audience for infantile advertising here....( ever read much of the general forum ? )....if admin had better moderation you would get better forums ( maybe less posting but better ) and then the advertising might improve...but if you spend $29.00 you will get alot for the price..the site is a valule ( but the idea of annual automatic re-occuring membership from your credit card is not too hot..don't like that feature myself ) and there are
a half-dozen people here i would knock out everyday if i were a moderator...CAN I BE A MODERATOR RUSS, PLEASE, PLEASE !...

I agree. As a sub I forget how inappropriate the banner ads are. I stopped my little daughter from playing on the site because of the ads.

I understand that RHP needs sponsors to make money. Why dont you have a child friendly site. That way our kids can get into the game early and not be exposed to smut. You can still keep your ads on the other sites(make your money) and have tasteful ads on
example(chessforkids.com)

Just a thought.

While I'm totally disappointed that everyone is ignoring the sweetest spelling correction ever... I have to say that you make a good point.

I think it depends on where you are though - I never get anything like that. I get annoyed because I see advertisements for the ISP I work for, and annoying smileys, but nothing filthy.

..the ads are not filthy..but if you have been or are a good parent then you would prefer that the world was better...we have so little control over the media..it is run by them and them and they have no
interest in our homes...so we just do what we can when we can....

I think everyone(at RHP) needs to take a hard look in the mirror and ask "Would I let my 6-7 yr old play on this site (non sub w/banner ads) ?

,,well, children of that age should be on a site just for children ( nice cartoon images and such ) but the "amsterdam crawl" that this site
allows does not have much merit....i was raised to understand that chess ( played well or badly ) was a game for gentlepersons...i find that this is the worst site for lowlifes...not all..but the mods allow the lowlifes to have a wide place in the public street...other sites make money...and are bigger..so you don't need it for the money...it is just a question of what one thinks is nice...

The biggest joke about it is that they are targeted at the people who can't afford to subscribe [or read that as too tight if you want] and therefore are highly unlikely to waste their money on those moronic products whatever they are.
The only sensible answer is to give all the ads to the subscribers - maybe they'll cough up for the rubbish hahaha. 😀

I play at the local library and all ads etc are blocked, I asked them if they would mind unblocking them but they refused - I don't think they knew how to do it. 🙁
Needless to say, I was severely disappointed. 🙄

I don't know or care. My favorite was voted off several weeks ago. There seems to be no place for the Blues in America today. This bothers me because I was involved with the scene and still am to some extent. And NO, I'm not going to vot for Hillary Clinton in 2008; you can keep your gift.

Is "Check You" sort of a play on words? Maybe this site has warped me, I just keep getting "Feck You" out of it.
