Thank you.
I have looked at some of Ironman31s games. Pretty weird.
If thats a computer playing then bring it on - I have no fears!
Originally posted by sonhouseWell I beat my Saitek chess computer on the top level once. Boy was I on form that day. I was fantasising, it was the Clan 7/7 league, a Big Cats game, one game from glory and I was the player. Opposite me was a Funky Mover. I had to be at my best. I was.

Originally posted by sonhouseIt's not all that gloomy. Even Hydra has lost a correspondence game. And I've got a bunch of draws against players who are now banned. I will say that it's much easier if you know you are facing a computer.

Originally posted by XanthosNZLooked at both games and I see what you mean. With the first game I'd figure even without an engine he could figure out a draw there but guess not. You did mention something though about tablebases being installed, thats the type of stuff I was refering to when I said you could get different results. Can't plug it into an engine until I get home to see exactly what it says without anything extra installed but, with a large tablebase installed, the engine will have more options. But thinking about that, I guess that would help a person cheat more than hurting the person tryng to catch them. Is there any logical reason a person would match move for move an engine? I can only think of bad play from an opponent that almost forces obvious counter moves. Like when a guy accidentally let his queen unprotected in a game against me, no way I wasn't going to take it and I'm sure an engine would agree. Could something like that happen throughout a game?
Yes play level differs however the telltale signs remain. Let's take Mary Ann as an example as (s)he's been brought up in this thread already.
Game 1625906
Here's an example where Mary Ann resigned in a drawn position. The win is outside of an engine's search depth and if you don't have tablebases installed it'll tell you the game is lost. This is ...[text shortened]... doubled pawns. The doubled pawns he guaranteed himself on move 1. Sound a little fishy?
Originally posted by sonhouseI've gotten draws against shredder and fruit, cant say I've ever come close to winning though 🙁 Those were untimed games. In timed games both programs kill me quite harshly.

Originally posted by XanthosNZThere are definately tell tale signs even I can tell you instantly that Game 1625906is drawn so no 2000+ rated player would resign. In Game 1625906 the play again does not conform with my expectations of a highly rated player. Either he is just messing around (but why?) or something fishy is up.

As regards Ironman31, there are not very many (ELO rated) French players with ratings of 2500 (in fact there are only about 100 such players in the world) so the easy way to clear himself is to identify himself. Players of this strength will play in the real world and will have an ELO rating. Surely if he can prove who he is he deserves an apology and reinstatement but if he can't then he can't be as good as his RHP rating implies!
Originally posted by Dragon FireWell what is he wanted to remain unknown? What if Bobby whats his name came to play here and didn't want anyone to know who he was would he give it up just to stick around or simply find another site to play on?

Some members claim to know who he is anyway so he is hardly BF.
Perhaps he is Borris Spasky. He lives in France now (I think) and isn't his rating about 2500. Dream on!
Originally posted by BridgePlayerPresumably, a player is banned if he/she matches computer play exactly.

If he/she plays worse or better, then he/she must be allowed to stay.
Originally posted by BridgePlayerI can tell you what it says without anything extra installed. It says that Mary Ann is losing by around two pawns. With tablebases it'll tell me instantly that it is drawn (and list all of the moves that don't lose).

There is no way that a player could match an engine in game after game after game. No way. Bad players make moves engines consider bad and good players make moves engines consider not good (but sometimes are better than the engine moves). Yes, forced moves are indeed forced and anyone with a brain will see them. But game after game after game? It can't happen.

Originally posted by XanthosNZTrue. Unless you kept playing people who are bad players but then I guess your rating wouldnt go up much if you keep playing people rated under you. Not sure what my rating will end up being on here but up until a 1900 player challenged me I was winning only because of bad moves from my opponents, aside from the game I posted earlier where I've felt as though no move I make is really progressing my position in the game. Feel like I started playing waiting for him to make a mistake thats not coming and am now just stuck and will end up losing or at best drawing. Too early to tell much of anything in the game against the 1900 player and he's moving so slow that the game won't develop anytime soon, think he is using timebank right now, would be content with being able to claim a win if he runs out of time.

Originally posted by XanthosNZYes i guess he could, previous post was a stretch and a big what IF. How acurate are ratings here anyway compared to say OTB ratings? If I was in the area of 2100 OTB what should my rating be here?

Originally posted by XanthosNZHey, question, why did ironman get taken down to a 500 rating when all the other banned players I see still have whatever rating they had? I see crackhead is still 2100 and meman is 2300, Jean Hebert is in the 1800's
