Sorry to keep you in suspenders, errr, suspense. *Richard tries to cover it up as though he did it on purpose. Fails*
Wow, what a tough round *Richard bases his comment on the amount of head scratching and pen biting by the contestants*
Jacko wishes that he is old enough to use a SHAVER. Alcra ...[text shortened]... A B ***
There’s 9 in the frame, lets get on with the game.

PM me your words
[/b]
right heads down for the next one..
I'm thinking of changing the format to be a bit closer to the real game.
Namely:
Normal Letters rounds: PM me the word. 1 point per letter in the letters round awarded to the person(s) with the longest word.
Numbers Game: Pm me your solution. Ten points if you can get the number spot on, seven points if you're within five, and five points if you're within ten. Only closest person(s) gets the points.
Conundrum: 10 points for successfully solving the conundrum.
Now, I have two specific thoughts (questions) on this, and also invite other ideas, suggestions.
1) Should people be awarded double points (18) for getting 9 letter words in the normal letters games (as per the TV show?)?
2) What's the fairest way of doing the conundrum? At the moment, its a bit unfair cos there is a lot of luck involved. Ie: are you online at the same time that I post the conundrum? I can't really think of a better way of doing it, as to stay true to the TV show, there should be only 1 person successful with the conundrum. I can't really commit to a certain time to post the conundrum either, due to other committments. Suggestions please?
Thanks,
D
[EDIT] Obviously, these changes would be implemented from the start of the next game.
Originally posted by Ragnoraki like all of these ideas. with the conundrum, i don't know how you could work it. the only idea i can think of is to find a time when european and american users are most likely to be online and post the conundrum then?!?!π

Ah Wucky, *cut to wucky wearing a yellow wool jumper saying “WUCKY LUVS GYLES” within a crossword*, Wucky decides to let her BEAUTY compensate for her wordgame deficiencies, as she weighs in with a 6. *Richard smiles at wucky in manner which shows that he is only playing. Gyles misreads the smile. Scowls*
Lausey makes a PRETTY good effort also with 6. Jacko’s search for a long word came to an ABRUPT end when he submitted his entry for 6.
Starrman and alcra are all charged up with excitement, as they submit BATTERY for 7. Jimmy can’t believe its not BUTTERY. *Audience lap it up*
Marcusr, darvlay and gumbie all wish they were still back in PUBERTY, or more specifically in Chemistry class, so they’d have known Favs, Freds, and Chris’ word: BUTYRATE. Sometimes a word needs more than a pun, and this is one of them *Richard smugly congratulations himself on getting out of that one. Wipes brow.* Gyles? *Cut to Gyles, wearing a yellow wool jumper saying “GYLES LUVS WUCKY” within a crossword(http://www.ukgameshows.com/atoz/programmes/c/countdown/wnkrs_3.jpg), holding the camera pen on the dictionary. *Butyrate, a simple fatty acid that is widely used as a food additive, is also being investigated as an agent that may increase fetal hemoglobin production. *Richard looks suitably impressed.* You learn something new everyday, eh?
Congratulations to Chris, Fred and Favs, who either payed attention in chemistry, or learned about butyrate from extra-curricular activities.
Onto game 3, Round 6, the second numbers round of this game. And the numbers are…
*** 1, 100, 7, 8, 3, 10 ***
And the target is…
*** 428 ***
Always PM your solution. (New Rule π ) All people who PM a solution (or closest) win the round.

Originally posted by GalaxyShieldSorry Josh, but I don't really understand the question. The points will be used to get a winner for each game. Then, once the winner has been determined, the points are reset back to 0 for the next game.
Hey Ragnorak, I've got a question. Are the going to be individual standings? With the talk of points being discussed and how many per what I was wondering about this. I sure hope so cause I can get on a lot and can take my time solving π.
Hope this helps.

Well done to Darvlay, rhb, GalaxyShield, Chris, The Plumber, alcra and Jimmy who all got 428 in that round, probably the hardest of all the rounds so far. Here are their solutions, with GalaxyShields first due to the beautiful simplicity of it…
GalaxyShield
100x4 = 400+7+8+3+10 = 28
Darvlay
(100+7)*(3+1) = 428
rhb
100+7 = 107
1+3 = 4
107 * 4 = 428
chris stephens
(100+7) x (3+1) =
428!
The Plumber
(100+7)*(1+3)=428
Alcra
(3+1) * (100+7)=428
Jimmy
100+7=107
3+1=4
107*4=428
Freddie
100 + 7 = 107 * (3+1) = 428
Carol, have you got that stupid solution where you use all the numbers, especially for rhb? Indeed I have Richard…
100+10 =110
110 – 1 = 109
7-3 = 4
109*4 = 436
436 – 8 = 428
*Applause from the audience, who appreciate the graceful complexity that Carol brings to the numbers game.*
And now, onto Game 3, Round 7… Today’s Crucial Countdown Conundrum.
These are the scores so far in this game (scores with proposed new scoring system in brackets):
Starrman: 1
Iamatiger: 1
Chris: 4 (43)
Wucky: 3 (32)
GalaxyShield: 3 (24)
Alcra: 2
Jacko: 1
Freddie: 4 (43)
Edwardipov: 1
Marcusr: 1
Mat: 1
Favs: 1
Darvlay: 1
Rhb: 1
The Plumber: 1
Jimmy: 1
If wucky or Josh get it, then we’ll have a sudden death conundrum between Chris, Fred and the person who gets it. If Chris or Fred get it, then they win. If anybody else gets it, there will be a playoff conundrum between Chris and Fred.
And today’s Crucial Countdown Conundrum is:
*** O C A T I C K L E ***
Your time starts now.
